I got into a 10-team keeper league (Rotisserie rules), took over the last place team from last yr, btw... We had our draft last night. Team looks a lot better than what I was left with, imo. ( I put an X by my four hold over players)

I had the first overall pick and took Beltran, btw.

Now, here's where my I got a couple of issues:

Going to add a backup catcher and another shortstop, but want to keep Howard and Fielder as either trade-bait or keepers in 2007. If I have to let go of one of my OF's or pitchers, who should go???

Catcher

Victor Martinez

First Base
Prince Fielder
Travis Hafner
Ryan Howard
Richie Sexson

Second Base
Orlando Hudson
Placido Polanco

Shortstop

Julio Lugo

Third Base
Hank Blalock X

Outfield
Garret Anderson
Carlos Beltran
Carl Crawford X
Jason Lane
Willy Taveras
Brad Wilkerson

Starters
S Mark Buehrle X
S Tim Hudson
S Jason Marquis
S Curt Schilling
S John Smoltz X
S Jake Westbrook

Relievers

Obviously you have tons of 1B depth. You should move one or two of them. The thing I would be most concerned with is getting another outfielder. I'm not sold that they guys you have will be able to carry your fantasy team. Crawford is, obviously, an up-and-coming superstar, in both fantasy and real life. He's your only sure fire solid outfielder. Beltran and Anderson had down years last year (though most predict Beltran will rebound in a big way), and Taveras and Lane are just mediocre, top 75 outfielders. Wilkerson could explode in Texas, but he is constantly dinged up and even when he did stay healthy and hit 32 HR (in 2004), he still only had a .255 average and only 67 RBI.

The deal I would most likely look for if I was you would be to package a first baseman (who depends on how much value you can get for the young kids) with Anderson for a real big outfield stud. If you can add a Jason Bay, Manny Ramirez or Bobby Abreau to your lineup, you have a first place team here.

It goes without saying that you should also add starting pitching help if it's available, but usually it isn't.

that is a LOT of guys for a 10 man keeper league. eh I dunno, I tend to find myself giving more opinions on a 20-man max per team in 10 man.

I'd deal Sexson and Fielder to try and upgrade your other areas. Hafner and Howard are young and good, no need to sit on Fielder unless you think you won't be getting fair value. I'd try and get another solid SP that's not so old, your margin for error there is razor thin. See what interest there is in Schilling or Smoltz. I'd also look to upgrade the OF, Wilkerson will mash in TEX but Anderson is getting pretty run down in ANA. Use Sexson, Fielder, and your older SP's to get better in OF and younger at SP.
