AUSTIN, Texas (March 22, 2006) -- Welcome to one of the biggest Pro Days a college will offer NFL personnel, which takes place in one of the biggest states in America.
Austin is the home of the University of Texas, and home to the Longhorns' annual Pro Day, where the school's draft-eligible football players work out for the NFL's scouts, coaches and general managers. You will always find a large crowd at this event -- especially since Texas is known for having a fantastic football program that annually places many players in the NFL.
In fact, Texas has had one of its players drafted into the NFL since 1938. That's at least one Longhorn taken in the last 67 drafts, the longest streak of any college or university. Texas also holds the record for the most players taken in a single draft -- 17 in 1984, although the draft was longer then.
The schedule ...

Among the team personnel in attendance were three key members of the Texans (owner Bob McNair, head coach Gary Kubiak and GM Charley Casserly), Green Bay head coach Mike McCarthy and GM Ted Thompson, Dolphins head coach Nick Saban and general manager Randy Mueller, Titans general manager Floyd Reese and offensive coordinator Norm Chow, Rams defensive coordinator Jim Haslett, Ravens quarterbacks coach Rick Neuheisel, and new Cowboys quarterbacks coach Chris Palmer. Titans head coach Jeff Fisher will visit Texas tonight and Tennessee will have a private workout with Vince Young Thursday morning.
The main event started at 3:15 p.m. -- Young throwing. He started off 7 out of 7. In all, he had a 40-minute workout in which he threw from under center as opposed to out of the shotgun. It gave team personnel an opportunity to evaluate him that way since he worked out of the shotgun predominantly at Texas. He impressed everyone with his arm strength, quick delivery and accuracy. Young made great strides today.
After Young's workout, Bert's annual barbecue took place. I'm not sure whether guys come down here more for the barbecue or the workout!
Following the workout in the bubble and the great food, Young went into the main meeting room with Texas offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Greg Davis for a Chalkboard Session, where team representatives got the chance to ask Young questions about his on-field decision-making in different situations.
The results …
