I'm in a pool locally that requires me to pick the 11 top home run hitters for the season in a weighted order. I need help...

Flight one (select one)
Andru Jones
AROD
Papi
Derek Lee
Manny
Mark Teixira
Alber Pujols

Flight Two (select one)
Konderko
Adam Dunn
Richie Sexon
Tony Glaus
Soriano
Mogan Ensberg
Ken Griffey Jr.

Flight Three (select one)
Gary Sheffield
Clifford Floyd
Carlos Delgado
Trafis Hafner
Miguel Cabrera
Jason Giambi
Vlad

Fight Four (select one)
Carlos Lee
Pat Burrell
Jason Bay
Jermaine Dye
Aramis ramirez
Jeff Kent
Jim Edmonds

--

The remaining seven sluggers must come from the rest of the league - I cannot use any other hitters from the above categories once I have made the original flight selection.

Slugger Number Five:
Slugger Number Six:
Slugger Number Seven:
Slugger Number Eight:
Slugger Number Nine:
Slugger Number Ten:
Slugger Number Eleven:

My top ten hitters will be counted ( the lowest # slugger is not counted)..

Tiebreaker is to guess total homers of all the Flight One hitters for the year.

Thanks for any help, wil....

Well, for starters, would take AROD in the 1st flight for the simple fact that he is not injury prone as the others.

Pujols is not injury prone, but AROD will probably hit more homers than him.

If he does get hurt, you will have the satisfaction as a RED SOX fan that he is down and out.

Wilheim can add him as a write-in as one of his picks........wise to do so.

Flight one (select one)
Mark Teixira The other possible candidate is Papi.

Flight Two (select one)
Konderko or Adam Dunn. Dunn will hit 3-4 more if healthy.

Flight Three (select one)
Trafis Hafner, again, a big IF HEALTHY sign.

Fight Four (select one)
Aramis Ramirez - That one won't be even close.

The other 7, look @ Blalock, Helton, Howard, Utley, Cantu, Mora aaaaand....Not sure, either Dellucci, or Wilson with the move to Houston.

PS: Ok, I just saw the rules Top 10 with 11th going out. I'm gonna put my head in the bag and say that with the above selection you win it.

Flight 1...Pujols or Arod (Proven commodity...sexy pick might by Texiera)
Flight 2...Dunn
Flight 3...Vlad
Flight 4...Bay (getting better every year)

Since Barry Bonds was left off the list he'd be the first person I'd take in round 5...he still hits HR's every other at bat.

6. Helton (bounce-back)
7. Howard (young gun on the rise)
8. Wright (young gun part II)
9. Young (young gun part III)
10. Utley (young gun part IV playing in a hitters park)
11. Beltran (due for big season)

Tiebreaker - 300

Maybes capable of 30+: Tejada, Thome, Beltre, Alou (Bonds back in line up), Drew (health always a concern), Wells, Chavez, Blaylock, Abreu

9. Young (young gun part III)
11. Beltran (due for big season)

First one is not a power hitter but an AVG guy. He won't pass 22. Beltran is playing @ Shea. I would NEVER take a guy from there for a homer comp. He can't have the power numbers in NY.

Flight one (select one)
AROD - always hits 45+

Flight Two (select one)
Konerko - US Cell is one of the most HR friendly parks
or Dunn - both should get to 40, both in HR parks

Flight Three (select one)
Trafis Hafner - Look for his first season in the 40s, believe he's a better pick than Vladdy here.

Fight Four (select one)
Pat Burrell - would go with him over Bay due to protection around him and Phillies being a HR park. Should both hit around same # so I would go with Park and better team.

The remaining seven sluggers must come from the rest of the league - I cannot use any other hitters from the above categories once I have made the original flight selection.

Slugger Number Five: Ryan Howard - might lead MLB in HRs
Slugger Number Six: Vernon Wells - very solid hitter ~30 HRs
Slugger Number Seven: Chase Utley - good power, HR friendly park
Slugger Number Eight: Scott Rolen - finally healthy (will he stay) could hit 30
Slugger Number Nine: Bobby Abreu - HR friendly park ~30+
Slugger Number Ten: Chipper Jones - 40 if healthy is not out of question!
Slugger Number Eleven: Helton - COORS FIELD!!

My top ten hitters will be counted ( the lowest # slugger is not counted)..

Hope I've provided you a good card WIL...think you couldn't go wrong here!

late to this but , I would agree Ryan Howard is a must on the write in ballot.

Howard is another Big Papi.

I would take Pujols, Konerko ,Haffner and Ramirez

Phillies rookie Ryan Howard has already hit 9 or 10 in the preseason....I would highly consider putting him on your list, especially cause most others in this pool will not have him on their list and he could be the secret weapon. he is a full time starter also, not expected to platoon with anyone.

OH damn, I just weent back and saw you have him on your list...lol. good luck!!

I can't believe you put Scott Rolen and David Wright on that list.

Edit: I like everybody else, but going with Blalock & Cantu/Mora instead of those two would have been worth it...

Last two spots were tough calls - I was thinking Tejada, Beltran, Michael Young, Chipper and Cantu.. I went with Wright in spite of Shea looking for lightning in a bottle and hoping for 25 from Rolen...

The way to win these things is to come up with a sleeper that no one else has..

Any suggestions - I can still make a change..
