basketball, football, tennis, golf, baseball all in the toilet. I blame it on poor coaching and even more so on poor parenting in america.

American's new favorite past times are video games and eating.

In our day, we grew up going to the playground and were encouraged to participate in sports. Nowadays, many, many children sit behind computers and are more interested in playing video games then participating. But one of many reasons.

Actually, the interest is still high... in fact too much so from the parents. They are all trying to chase college scholarships in lacrosse, soccer, hockey, and a few other non-mainline sports... and forcing their kids to play in an overly organized way. Just let 'em play, make scholarships for scholar-athletes like the old days, and the cream will rise to the top. Very few make it to college level anyways, and even more miniscule to pros.

And I particularly agree that at the youth level... most critical time... the coaching sucks big-time.

Coaching and play are horrendous because parents these days treat kids like trophies, not kids. I have thankfully only been to a couple of little league games by OMG, these parents are psychos! One kid got pulled out of the game and the father and mother sounded like they were plotting the clandestine death of the coach. They said the coach had it in for their kid, that next season they would go to the town next door for sports. Like it was a conspiracy. Too many parents like this, your kids are just out to have fun. Winning isn't that important, neither is showing off their skills. How come so many parents forget this?
