Do you think its better to just bet at -110 or is it worth the extra juice to get the 1 point ?

in hoops I would say yes. You would be paying 5 cents for each half point when each half point is close to 7 cents. I am pretty sure I am right about this

nba sides maybe a push, nfl only if its on or off a 3, 4 or 7, just a bit too high to be your advantage overall. bad deal stay away

What do you mean every line? Would you be required to bet every line? If it's simply buying 1 full point for 10 cents, in hops I would say a resounding yes.

This old chestnut seems to be appearing more and more nowadays, probably because of the increase of trading on exchanges etc. Normally if its not buying off a significant figure, you have to ask yourself why you are betting a side where you are worried about 1/2 pts:icon_conf

its worth it and it amazes me these books who say "i'll give you a free 1/2 point if you bet every game or I'll let you lay 15 or 20 for a point if you bet every game" Once you get numbers like that you are gonna want to bet every game. You are pretty much booking them, so the more games you bet the better.

I see people blindly buying 1/2 points all the time, many times when it is not appropriate.
Honestly, I saw a guy last week buy a half on a pick 'em game, it was all I could do not to choke.

My local lets me buy 1 pt for -120 but not every game but most and I can bet any amount of games.

At -120 straight bet for staight bet you essentially double the houses advantage of 4.5 to 9 percent. Most times it will not make a difference
and you will lose just as often as not. Worse yet those extra points build confidence where you had none before lulling you into a false sense of security when you when win. This dilutes what haddicapping/guessicapping you do as you always think in terms of that security which is false. This leads to bad habits as you start trying other gimmicks at those bad prices or some facsimle thereof.

Moral of the story. The pros fight like dogs to turn there money over at 5 percent and overcome the houses 4.54 percent edge. They do this knowing the full math of everything they are doing.

You on the other hand want to step up to the counter and bet me straight bet for straight bet - 120 to buy a 1/2 point or point thus doubling my hold over you to 9 percent or 9 dollars per hundred instead of 4.50 per?

ANY TIME, ANY PLACE, ANYWHERE. I WILL FLAT OUT OWN YOU AND YOU WILL GO BROKE TWICE IF NOT THREE TIMES AS FAST IN THE LONG RUN.
NOT A GOOD IDEA.

If you are talking about having -110 on everything, and being able to buy a full point for an extra 10 cents on ncaa or nba basketball, I will own you - no question about that.

Good line that has stuck in my head from a pretty sharp player....."If they offer it, no-it's not worth it".

And I don't know of anyone who offers it or I would be all over it. And I don't mean where you are forced to play every game or something to that effect.

I feel that in the long run paying -120 for each wager, even with the extra point will hurt your overall profit margin at the end of the season...the 1/2 point and one point losses seemed to occur more with my college hoops wagers than they did in football, but I made a great deal more wagers with college hoops...
