Yo all just wanted to get some feedback... I have 4 teamer, 3 legs are in last leg is today. Just wondering what people think in terms of hedging to lock in the profit or let it ride. Half me wants to gamble and other half just wants to lock in that money.

Also i used to be a huge multi player. Nowdays I try to beat the man straight up. Of what percentage of bankroll should i take multis if i grind it out? Or I am thinking maybe i should go back to my multi days and bet purely multis everyday. My bankroll isn't exactly PHAT rite now and i miss the fun alittle bit in my betting. I have heard 100% bankroll to play straight up and have another 100% for multis and other type bets set aside. Once its gone, its gone!! I have hit some huge multis in the past. I even changed the way a local bests on basketball by not allowing me to wager 1 day into the following day and so on.... Am i missing my calling or am i doing the right thing in trying to be professional about it all. Any help appreciated.:103631605

Personally I would gamble because that is why I made the bet to begin with. I am sure there is someone here that can give you the best way to hedge in this situation.

Hedgeing is the most important weapon in the punters armoury, one which many do not use properly. Knowing when to hedge and at what price is essential to long term profits, many just take whatever price and are happy with the profit. There is no point in giving you an answer as it all depends on the circumstances but you should be aware of the real price all the time and equate whether or not you are getting value, by that I mean every time you hedge, you are in reality having another bet, you have to know that the odds are in your favour. :drink:

No reason to hedge here. If you are thinking of hedging every time you get 3 legs in on a 4 teamer than just bet a 3 teamer next time.

Ask yourself a simple question. Are you in it to gamble or to make money?

Thanks to all that posted. This was my original bet and im happy to let it ride. Will keep you posted. This multi is nothing compared to the multis i have hit in the past which were 300/1 and upwards:suomi:

Is there anyone out there that bets purely multi's/parlays? And manages that bankroll. Would like to hear from you. It just seems to me every time i have made serious money its been multis not straight up bets. Straight up bets you tend to over extend sometimes and have to wager more. Multi players obviously dont have to hit such a high % to win money.

hedging is never a bad idea...I hedged $150 in a contest I'm in tommorrow...if Florida wins, I get $345, if Nova wins I get $150...it would have been $500 or $0 had I not hedged...

taking profits is never a bad idea as long as you are in this for the long run...

I never do parlays but I will scalp quite a bit. Personally though, I would hedge to have a guaranteed profit. Why pass up a guaranteed profit? Different people has different philosiphies though I guess.

I can see why someone in a contest where you have to pick like 10 winners ina row would hedge. They had no choice inhow many teams they needed so they did what was required. I will never understand why people pay juice twice to hedge a parlay. Why do a 4 team parlay if youre gonna hedge when the first 3 win? This only makes sense if the line has moved dramtically and you can get a very good price ont he team you want to hedge with.

Thanks for input guys its like this. Capirossi to win moto gp(rossi starts from 9 and crashes first corner trying to get into the leading bunch) into Middlesbrough/Middlesbrough half/full double (Middlesbrough lead 3-1 at break and its a draw 3-3 into stopage time when Middlesbrough ices it 4-3, note i had draw with same options in another multi so i was covered) into Man Utd/Birmingham total goals over 2.5(scores 2-0 with 8 to go then Rooney blasts one from top of the box to ice over) into Baghdatis to beat Davydenko in Miami masters. This is where i hedge the other way on Davydenko to secure the profit. To me this is real you know rather then taking the singles and sweating it for more. You have to look at the facts. You can go a whole week and turnover 20% of your bankroll to win maybe 1% or a little better at best playiong singles. Wouldn't you be better off having one bet a week at $1.10 or something to show the same? Its exactly the same thing.

This is my whole arguement. Is there anyone that bets purely parlays/multis and manages the bankroll. You dont have to hit high % of plays. You can use timezones to your advantage to lock in profits. Can anyone explain to me why betting straight up any better then multi playing? I just dont see the advantage players have putting 20% or 30% per week out there to win such small percentages all the time. The bad runs will come and then you have to rebuild again. I could hit 1 multi out of 50 and still show a profit. Im not talking about 11/1 multis either. Show me one player that can hit 1 out of 50 straight up bets and have money. To me its laughable but anyways i just wana hear what you guys think.:howdy:
