Hmm long story short you have to rip your cd into mp3 then transfer the mp3 to your ipod. You can't directly transfer your cd into your ipod.

What you can do is put your cd into itunes. itunes will then read what is on the cd. From there go to the top of itunes hit edit then select all. This will select all the tracks on your cd. Mouse over to the songs. Right click your mouse. One of the options will be to convert to AAC which is the apple/itunes verison of mp3. Do that and go where the aac files are saves and you should be able to put them from your itunes playlist to your ipod.

Is there an option from the playlist to transfer to iPoD?

or

An option to transfer when I attempt to open an aac file from wherever I decide to file it?

Thanks for your help, learning new software is such a fuggin hassle but this device is nothing short of incredible!

No need to thank me til you have your songs on your ipod and yes there is that option. Once you get your aac or mp3 flips set up and in itunes. Go to the itunes icon at the bottom of itunes. Click that, the default icon should be to automatically update all songs and playlists. If that is selected just click ok and itunes then moves your playlist and songs over to your ipod as well.

Can you transfer from one of the live radio stations, there are some very nice blues tunes tracks being played I might want to store?

or

Do these have to be saved somehow as aac file then transfered, if possible?

you can if its podcast. If the radio station has a podcast for there show itunes will download it and save it under the podcast then transfer it to your ipod when you update it.

I was chatting with a guy in Circuit City that told me he had 500 CD's stored on his ipod. Must be a 30 Gb model.

Heck this is only 2 Gb but I can store almost all my favs from my CD collection.

I have about 2200 songs on my ipod with room for about 2000 more and mine is a 20 gig verison. The 2 gb verison should let you store around 500 songs.

The technology is baffling, the entire work of the Beatles stored on the head of a pin with amazing quality.

Looks like music stores and CD's are soon to be dinosaurs of the past.

Agreed. When I do buy a cd (which is rare) the first thing i do is rip it and put it on my ipod. I still listen to vinyls cause there is something to that sound I can't find on cd's or mp3's. But aside from that all digital.

I'll keep you posted on my progress. Doesn't sound to hard, I'm fairly computer literate. Thanks for the heads up.

Kiss1: I don't know if you use a mac or a PC, but I'm on a mac and this is the program I use to record streams --> Radiolover

The closest I could find for Windows is a winamp plugin found here --> http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/win/23218 Radiolover used to be steamripper also but I can't find a stand alone app for windows. There may be better options out there someone can suggest.

Hope this helps

I would suggest downloading songs from Limewire. Then add the folder with songs from Limewire to Itunes. I was able to get all the songs I ever needed for free on my Ipod.

Thanks for all the tips, I'll sniff around the internet today as work permits.

I've got a CD player in my Altima, they should have provided a plug in for an ipodish device. I saw a kit at Circuit City for a cassette deck but who still has those?

What's a fireplug and what is the line-out on my little pod stand used for?
