How could a guy who moves his own team from the American League to the National League ever not be considered stupid? Let alone impartial! Moron cried for years about everything, then when given a chance to do something constructive - buried his head up his ass and almost destroyed baseball with their socialist leanings when it was the owners all along that have created 99% of the problems in baseball today!

The next commissioner should be given the power to deal with not only the players, but the owners!

There is a very good saying about giving power. Imagine the worst possible candidate in your opinion holding all that personal power. Now, if you still want to give it go ahead. The idea that there is a guy and not a board governing the league is ridiculous by itself.

PS: Yeah, comissioner IS chosen, but I still don't think he should be able to hold that much executive power.
PS2: Btw, it's ridiculous having an investigation on past charges. If we're gonna do this, let's get back 6 more years and get those Tour de France titles back from Lance.

guys, I just realised that the 75 year old guy on the left is supposed to be the senator Mitchell who'll "investigate". This is a joke. This is the worst PR stunt ever. If you want to be taken seriously, you give an investigation to a person who can walk on his own, with significant knowledge in the field, you don't do a press conference, you investigate and then you come public with your results. You don't come out and say"Cover your tracks, because I have a grandpa right next to me who'll be looking at it closely!!!!". The whole idea that as long as one person has solid reputation he's suitable for every taks is way out of line.

No doubt it is a 100% PR stunt. Just like a politician playing the public for a bunch of idiots. What can possibly come out of this "investigation"? What a waste of time. Nothing more than Selig and MLB trying to save face and be the good guy

I was going to start a thread on this asshole today myself....this guy is pathetic!

He is nothing more than a MLB owners puppet, and that is all he ever was...Until MLB has the balls to let the game be ran by an unbiased arbitrator the game will continue to spiral downwards!

Now they're investigating MLB steroids, now!!?? And they hire a guy who works in MLB! Are you kidding me?

Let John Dowd do the investigation !

He ain't no Bud of baseball. Pretty much the owner's handpuppet/fall guy. And he is about to take a major league fall while the owner's have a party and laugh. Until you have a commish that will at least stand up to the owner's see Taglibue or Stern, it is a no win chase the money game. This guy was handpicked to be the fall guy/stooge. Time to fall. He reminds me more of a politician than a commissioner. Now the owner's will have to find another eunich.

Best Wishes...OF :howdy:

The baseball commissioner was with some old guy I didn't recognize and two younger women dressed very nicely. He was very polite and ordered for everyone. However when the two women left for the bathroom he said the crudest, most sexually explicit things. I could hear all of it. I am too disgusted to repeat it but he basically was describing exactly what he wanted to do with his tongue to one of the women. And he went on and on. I was offended, I refrained from making a specific comment but I looked at him and he knew that I had heard everything. Then he said to me, "you shouldn't be standing so close. Don't you have better things to do." He left me 20% but then had the nerve to come up to me afterward and act like I had accepted a bribe. He pointed to the tip and said, "I left you extra because I know you'll keep your mouth shut." Then he smiled. What a jerk.

Everyone here is bashing Selig. I if we took a poll, the vast majority of baseball fans hate him as well. With that being the case,
if Selig is/was so inept and unpopular, how did he :1) get rich and powerful to begin with 2) get one of the best job in all of sports 3) KEEP this job and SOLIDIFY his hold on it?

THAT is the true story. Then again, this country re-elected a president with a 30% approval rating that didn't even win the popular vote to begin with, so I guess anything is possible.

Peter Principle

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jump to: navigation, search

For the sitcom, see The Peter Principle.

The Peter Principle is a theory originated by Dr. Laurence J. Peter. It states that successful members of a hierarchical organization are eventually promoted to their highest level of competence, after which further promotion raises them to a level at which they are not competent. The term is a pun on Sigmund Freud's theory of the pleasure principle.
The theory was set out in a humorous style in the book The Peter Principle, first published in 1969. Peter describes the theme of his book as hierarchiology. The central principle is stated in the book as follows:

In a Hierarchy Every Employee Tends to Rise to His Level of Incompetence.

Selig is also the reason the Green Bay Packers play all their games in Green Bay now. Remember, the Pack used to play a few games a season, I believe 2 or 3 in a 16 game schedule, in Milwaukee at old County Stadium. Well the management wanted a new stadium and Selig promised them one. But he never came through with the new stadium, so the Pack left Milwaukee, although the old Milwaukee season ticket holders still get tickets to some home games. Oddly enough, Selig did get the Brewers a new stadium, Miller Park. Selig is an ass and his handling of the commissioner's office just reaffirms this opinion.

Why wasn't Bonds asked to appear last year before congress? Doesn't this seem very strange?

What kind of deal did Bonds make when he testified before that?
