Oly has Jim Thome at 25-1 to have the most HR's this season......
Thome has the 4th highest HR per AB ratio in the history of MLB behind
Babe Ruth, Mark McGuire and Barry Bonds
Unlike the latter 2 there are no concerns about roids so no worries about no juice this season
He missed most of last season due to an elbow injury which seems to have healed nicely considering he hit 2 homers in 3 consecutive games during the last week!!
In 4 years prior to last season he averaged 47!
And this year we find him playing in homer friendly US Cellular hitting in front of Konerko

My only concern would the switch to DH. Sometimes the inactivity has a negative effect on a player at the plate
He will definitely be in contention. 25-1 is absurd considering the above info.
Pinny has him at 20-1 the last I looked and thats too high

I dunno if the ChiSox park is more hitter friendly than the Phils park. I also wouldn't say its safe to assume that Thome was never juicing.

He is from Peoria, Ill and really wanted to sign with the Cubs before going to the Phils. Very happy to be in Chicago and could have a monster year with Konerko in front of him in the order. His age is a concern, but thats why he is 25/1.

There are worse plays.

Disagree that there are worse plays.

Jim Thome's body is breaking down severely. He's definently near the end of his career.. Don't even expect him to play in more than 120 games this season.

He's 25:1 for a reason. In reality he has no chance of winning the HR title.

He is playing in a hitters park. He will be the full-time DH so there will be less stress on his body. Personally I like Dunn to win.

thanks for the feedback...meanwhile he hit his 7th homer in 4 games yesterday........yes he's old and MAY break down this season and is the reason for the long odds but looking at the rest of the field and their prices i still think 25-1 is way too high and I did grab the 25-1 even before the 7 homer binge and have added to position since.......
I think both the Phillies and WS park are regarded as homer friendly

In reality no chance?.....thats a little strong..... He hit 42 in 143 games in 04 and will be DHing instead of playing first base(less wear and tear?).....Altho theres no definitive answer about steroid use (ya never know)Thome has always regarded as a non user and just a big strong country boy.....The guy never even used to lift weights which I think is a must to max out the effects of using roids........
If it was 15-1 it wouldnt have caught my eye but at 25-1 definitely worth a flyer all things considering.....good luck to everyone this season
