FINALLY, MLB Baseball is back on Monday!!! Yeah, I know we have a ChiSox/Clev rain soaked opener. but Monday is actually opening day to baseball purists like myself.

Like most sports, I tend to tread lightly in the opening weeks, plays are rated 5 units for a top play and 1 unit for my smallest selection (All plays listed pitchers). Let's have a great season everyone!!!

Texas Rangers -105 (3 units)... Schilling will attempt to do in 2006 what Millwood did in 2005, have a huge year without nagging injuries. Schilling claims his ankle is healthy and he HAS slimmed down, but I'm not convinced yet a bounceback is in the cards by looking at his spring training appearances. Millwood won't lead the AL in ERA like he did in 2005, but he's got one helleva lineup backing him up. Boston may struggle early on and their new pieces get adjusted to like in Beantown.

Washington Nats +150 (2 units)... Another season, another operhyped NY Metropolitan baseball club. Glavine struggled early in 2005, but finished nicely. He's still a "name' pitcher, but he's getting way too much respect with this line against Livian. Hernandez with once again give his team a ton of innings and may be paying for it in Aug/Sept, but he's looked recovered from knee surgery and will be strong in his early outings. Nice value here.

Atlanta Braves -115 (1 unit)... Check status on Lowe, he has sick earlier this weekend. Not an easy assignment, going against a great daytime pitcher in Hudson (looking for him to get back to the 16-18 win range). Dodgers, like the Red Sox, have quite a few new pieces and may struggle early. They are my pick to win the NL West though. This is once again supposed to be the year the Braves are dethroned in the NL East, but looks like another 90-95 win season.

Seattle Mariners +124 (1 unit).. Opening day matchup pitting a team that may surprise (Seattle) against a club that may big a big disappointment (LAA) in 2006. Angels once again weak at the bat when you get past Vladdy and Garrett. The biggest reason for their slide could be losing Molina to free agency, as he is one of the best handlers of pitchers in MLB. Mariners keep adding pieces and could win 85 games this year. Don't like the pitching matchup very much with Colon vs old as dirt Moyer, but it's worth a shot at the price. Moyer pitches very well at home and Colon usually hits his stride in June, not April.
