Whats everyone's guesses for this year's MVP now that we are coming down the stretch. Throughout most of the season I believed Kobe was the favorite but looking at the raw numbers Lebron really has him beat. Plus Lebron is really coming on strong. Of course the two point guards are also serious contenders, Nash and Billups. Carmelo, Brand, Wade and Dirk are worth mentioning even though I don't give them a chance.

Thoughts? Am I missing anyone?

So I take it you like Mr. Brand. While I agree he is deserving you have to admit the likelihood of him winning is next to nil. Only if the Clippers had kept up their early season pace would he have gotten serious consideration, right or wrong.

I agree 100%...but it is a shame. Being in Los Angeles should help him but being that he is a Clipper and not a Laker means he gets no love.

He has no chance of winning it.

I don't even think Nash is the MVP of the Suns!!!!

Shawn Marion carries that team.

I think you have to add Dwayne Wade to your list. He is carrying the Heat and they are a good team. He has proven that he can win without Shaq who is having a mediocre season.

bunch of homers here! I vote Chris Bosh then!

Yes I recognize Wade as almost equal to Lebron (shooting range the only edge for Lebron) but I'm really talking about who's going to win, not who should/deserves to win. I'm pretty confident Wade is not going to win MVP.

The guy has unique skills but he's not MVP calibre. Any player who can't go one on one cannot be MVP.

BTW - personally I got a feeling Billups takes it down. Everyone loves the Piston's team ball and he is the face of that team. But for betting purposes I must root for Lebron James.

fyi - Just noticed Pinny with some lines. Left off a few names but I highly doubt the winner won't be on that list.

With Lebron going down last night and the Cavs in no rush to hurry him back and don't understand how he can be favoured. Kobe at over 2-1 seems value imo. Billups at 40-1 also seems juicy but I doubt he takes it down, maybe a hedge due to the big price. As for Nash and Nowitzki I can see Nash with some possibilities (will they really give it to him back to back?) but I think Nowitzki is dead money.

As much as it pains me to say it, Kobe should win this award hands down.

He has carried the Lakers to the playoffs and a strong record in the much more difficult Western Conference. His supporting cast is an absolute joke.

The Cavs have a much better team. Their 7th or 8th best player would be the 3rd best player on the Lakers.

Stick any other player in the position Kobe was in this season and there is no way the Lakers make the playoffs.

Is this some kind of joke? If you want to give it to someone on a mediocre team, how in the world could you possibly pick him over Kobe. This is the dumbest thing you have ever posted.

My apologies. hadn't made it down here yet. I found it hard to believe a smart guy like yourself would think otherwise.
