Arizona vs. Colorado, Take Under
We like tonight's Diamondbacks/Rockies game to go under the posted total of 11 for several reasons.
RHP Aaron Cook spend most of 2005 on the disabled list with blood clots, but when he was healthy, he was fantastic. He went 7-2 with a 3.67 ERA on the strength of a sinker that is one of the National League's best. He is the type of pitcher who is perfectly suited for the band box that is Coors Field, going 4-1 there with a 3.76 ERA last season. Furthermore, he has never lost to Arizona, sporting a 3.27 ERA in the process.
Arizona counters with RHP Orlando Hernandez who is the type of pitcher who excels in parks like Coors in his own right. He pitched well in his only start there and we look for him to come out of the gate strong in 2006.
Both teams in this matchup will never be confused with the '27 Yankees and we think one or both of these pitchers will keep their opposing weak lineup in check.
Play Arizona/Colorado to go under the total of 11

Anaheim vs. Seattle, Take Seattle Mariners
At 6:35pm our complimentary selection is on the Seattle Mariners over the Los Angeles Angels. Jeff Weaver switched teams over the off season but didn't have to move cities. The once highly touted starter went from the Dodgers of LA to the Angels of LA to join his younger brother Jered, (who did not break camp with the Major League squad but is considered by many to be more talented than Jeff), and Weaver will try to help bring a World Series title back to Tinseltown. And speaking of guys named Jered, Weaver's opponent in his first start in an Angel uniform is former Angel lefthander Jarrod Washburn. If recent history is any indication, then Washburn should thrive in his new environs. The veteran southpaw, who has spent all of his previous years with the Angels, compiled a 1.93 ERA in two starts at Safeco Field in 2005 en route to an overall 3.20 ERA in over 177 innings pitched. Weaver is a notoriously slow starter, having logged an April ERA of 6.07 in 2004 and 6.23 last year, before rebounding in both years to post decent numbers as a regular member of the Dodgers' rotation. If the Mariners get any kind of decent seasons out of Jamie Moyer and Joel Piniero (to go with Washburn and phenom Felix Hernandez) then they should finally give the Angels a run for their money. Take the Mariners. As always, good luck...
