We have two fights going down tonight:

J.C. Candelo vs Verno Phillips and Said vs Echols.

I'm getting real paranoid by posting my leans or wagers here because it seems I lose half of the time when I post before the event but screw it, mind over matter.

The Echols bout to go over looks good but it's a little pricey at -200. Still on the fence about taking Candelo at +300. He gave Teddy Reid fits in their last bout.

G2G,
Any idea why BoxRec has Said scheduled to fight again in 2 days?

Have you read anywhere about that?

Nope, I didn't even notice that when I looked it up. They have his next opponent as Echols. Possibly he took this fight to be on the TV and backed out of the one he's scheduled to fight in? I know that has been happening more frequently lately.

Said has zero power, but hasn't fought anyone that can punch either. With Echols you question how much is left in the tank for him at this point. The Mundine whipping seemed to change his career path. The over looks good, even at -200 right now.

Even at +300, you just never know what you're going to get with Candelo. Looked good against Reid, but only a couple of years ago lost to relative unknown Sanchez. With Phillips there are questions as to what he has left to offer. Losing close fights to Ouma and Quartey are nothing to be ashamed of. The price on Philips seems about right, but is not one I'd be anxious to play myself.

That's even more disturbing if that's the case. I was about to play the over, but if he backed out of a fight to land a TV spot, who knows what will happen. Then again, Echols "power" doesn't exactly scare me either.

Exactly Echols lack of power is what pushed me to the over. I think Echols will be content with outboxing Said. Echols want to use this to get a fight with a bigger name and Said is looking for a TV payout.

Hopefully the trip from Tampa to New Orleans wasn't too rough on Said!

Yeah I know, I think he's just there for the payday and that's all. Wouldn't be surprised if they have a wink, wink understanding and put on a 10 round sparring session.

I'm thinking that Echols just wants to get rounds in myself after such a long layoff. Pinnacle must handle a good bit of coin on boxing. Line barely moved relative to other markets of the same limit size.

I wish Pinny would put up the M.A. Cotto fight line. If you got your XBox 360 Lab, Fight Night 3 is must have. I'm playing it right now. For some reason, I have this weird obsession of wanting to win by referee stoppage instead of KO or decision. Graphics really carry the game.

I have FN3 for PS2. Yet to buy the 360. I played it for a few days, but stopped. The career mode sucks and most of the fights take on the same exact feel. Having to alter how you play the game (no parrying, head shots, etc) gets old. I didn't even use the haymakers or stun punches or any of that stuff. Had a couple of challenging fights but nothing too tough. If they could take Victorious Boxers and redo it, that would be perfect.

Couple of tenuous moments, but still got the cash on the Said-Echols over. This laying heavy wood in boxing is not quite my thing. Feel much better watching a fight with dogs than laying -200.

LOL, I fell asleep and missed the entire thing. Good to see we got the cash! I hope they replay it so I can check it out. Congrats on the win Lab.

To me, fn2 and fn3 are shadows of fn1, which the best out of all 3. Graphics aren't as "hyped" up as fn2 and fn3, but, the gameplay, and the original realism in the boxing, "parrying", "bobbing and weaving" is the best in fn1.

:)

Did anybody see that damgaard/gatti fight?

I missed it....I did hear that damgaard was the better fighter, but lacked the power to finish....

Anybody can summarize the fight for me breifly?

Yes Damgaard did lack power and if he had it, he probably could've pulled off the upset because he was connecting but I don't know about him outboxing Gatti. Gatti was up on the cards throughout the fight. Gatti hurt his right hand but was still able to finish him off by TKO in the 11th round if I remember correctly. He did give Gatti fits at various times during the fight though.

Oh by the way, FN1 was the best one to me. They could've done more with FN3 but I still love the graphics and the game play against another human players. It seems like every time they make a new one, fewer fighters are on the game. I heard that some fighters like Pretty Boy wanted to much to be put on the FN3.
