I-76 Shooting Injures Nuggets Player
Deputies Look for Witnesses

ADAMS COUNTY, Colo. -- Adams County authorities are investigating an overnight shooting that injured Julius Hodge, 22, a Denver Nuggets player.
The incident was reported at about 2:20 a.m. Saturday on westbound Interstate 76 near Pecos Street.

"The preliminary investigation reveals that the victim, Julius Hodge was driving east on interstate 76 and a vehicle, make and model unknown, pulled up along side Hodge’s vehicle and started shooting. The victim’s vehicle was hit with several bullets from an unknown type of weapon.

Some of the rounds struck Hodge in his lower extremities. After being hit by gunfire, he stopped the vehicle in the middle of the road and the passenger flagged down another motorist, who transported them to the hospital," a statement issued by the sheriff's office said.

Hodge's condition was not released.

The interstate was closed down for several hours while deputies investigated and looked for clues.

I just heard that he's in fair condition, so at least it doesn't appear to be life threatening.

2:20AM shooting.

Hmmmm...

There's a LOT more to this story.

Not necessarily.....that part of town (the heart of little Mexico), that time of the morning. Probably just a couple of loaded bangers deciding to shoot up a black guy.

The minorities out here do NOT like each other, especially those on the street thug level. It's pretty bad.

It's on a pretty small level, but there is a fair amount of late night random shit (which I suspect this also was).

Club Manager: Hodge Dressed Like Gang Member Before Shooting
Deputies Continue Hunt For Shooter

DENVER -- Nuggets rookie Julius Hodge was "dressed like a gang member" at a nightclub hours before he was shot and wounded, and someone had flashed a gang sign at him, the club manager said.
Hodge, 22, was released from a hospital on Sunday, a day after he was shot three times in the legs while driving on Interstate 76 near Pecos at about 2:20 a.m.. Adams County authorities said they have no suspects and have not established a motive.
"He had a bandanna over his head, and maybe they thought he was in a gang," Paladium club manager Jose Ramirez told the Rocky Mountain News in Tuesday's editions.
Hodge had gone to the club to talk to a friend, hip-hop artist Juelz Santana, who was performing there, Adams County investigators said.

Ramirez said someone in the club's parking lot had flashed a gang sign at Hodge. It wasn't immediately clear whether Ramirez witnessed the incident.

The Nuggets have said Hodge is expected to fully recover and could play again in two or three weeks.

Investigators said that after Hodge left the nightclub, he and a passenger were on the interstate when another vehicle pulled alongside and fired several shots into Hodge's car.

Hodge stopped in the traffic lanes and his passenger, whose name hasn't been released, flagged down another motorist who took the pair to a hospital. Investigators said the passenger in Hodge's car was slightly injured.
