Personally believe 8-12 plays a day is a bit much, what do you guys generally play per day?

There is no set limit but IMHO a top notch player can't survive making that many plays a day unless he's betting very small $10-$20 a game.

I've found the more plays i make the less i win. But when i make less plays the games that i like and would've played always win easily.

Life always seems to rape me like that.

Jman,
I am a HUGE believer in if they are value plays than it shouldn't be a set number. If you are going to show a decent profit for the year you better be prepared to put alot of money into play and if you don't have a big bankroll than alot of plays is the only way to go. I won close to 70 units this hoops season (feb-march) and would have never done that betting 2-3 games a nite. I never bet more than 1 unit per game and had only a 10k bankroll (bet $100 a game) but did manage to net around $6,500. My point is if you have a feel for the sport and can find and spot VALUE plays at numerous books you can show a healthy profit by betting alot of plays. I am up 9 units (tracker forum) in bases right now and I have done this averaging 5 plays a nite. I'm sure I am in the minority on this but it is the only it becomes worth my time is to have a lot of plays so my edge can come into effect

Good question.

I myself really believe in Quality vs Qaunity. I think about 1-3 is the way to go. JMHO.
I have been knowing a guy that Never bets over one game a day and he wins seems like every week. ALL sports too.

I really believe less is more....I mean how much can you possibly like in one baseball card?

I don't see how you can really find 8-10 baseball games in one day....yes , it is possible to 'like' a lot of game on an occasion but, every day I dunno.

agree. What i meant is value is value, don't reach for it. But to make a decent year long profit youmust put alot of money into play and to put alot of money into play (with a average bankroll) you must pull the trigger quite a few times.

Here is an example of what I mean: 2 plays a day times 350 days =700 plays at a 55% win pct(which is easier said than done) is less than $4000 a year (betting 1% of a 10k br). I can find alot better things to do with my time than sweat out 4k a year and that is if people are following the 10k br and 1%.

I will say that you can also lose ALOT more this way. If you have an edge than it will become more evident after more plays. Just my opinion.

6 plays max. Keep the vig manageable. Don't chase in the late games.

1 to 3 plays is all you need on a given day in bases.play to make money not to have action on to watch etc.do not chase in bases ,there is always the next day.yes it look good to put up a 8-2 day or a 6-2 etc but in the long runs you will not have a bank account doing this as it will turn on you very fast..play for the long run not the short term.just my opinion.....ck

It depends on the day. If I see a card with alot of dogs, I seem to play more than if I like alot of favs. Also dont like laying heavy favs.

No such thing as too many providing they have an edge.

The 'less is more' statement is too general. A few large edges with many small ones is better than just those few large edges.

On some days 1 play is too many on other days 7 plays may not be enough. It all has to do with the card for the day. There is no uniform answer.

Why would 'a few very large edges even be mixed in with small plays'? That is my point, stay with top plays with real edges....I think for the most part players make plays to stay in the action for the whole night, that is a mistake....just like playing the sunday night game every week.

The same players who bet 10 plays a day , you can bet they will have action on that game , every time.

Thats Exactly what i was trying to say. 1-3 TOP plays for the day, the rest are just leans anyway. I dont think that anyone can come up with more the 3 TOP plays in a day anyway.
Your dead right they just play all of that stuff to be in action.....i used to do that too......lol

I pretty much agree with you Journeyman, that you shouldn't stretch or chase just to have plays for the games that are on TV. By the same token though, I don't think you should cut back if you see eight games on the card that truly provide value according to whatever criteria you use.

It's a little easier for me, because I use mathematical criteria that don't leave me much wiggle room, so if I have no plays on a 15-game card so be it, and if I have 6 out of 6 games on a Monday that's OK too.

There are obviously alot more bets with small edges than there are ones with large edges, so they significantly add to turnover. Skipping them knowlingly is is just silly (it's no different than passing up on free money). A higher winrate/ROI does not make a more profitable bettor.

too many games = amount of games you are not comfortable betting...don't mean to be a smart ass but to me its that simple...if you find "value' you should not hesitate to bet that game!!
