Way over used by todays managers!

Give me the EARL WEAVER thinking.

ONLY 27 outs in a game, don't surrender them.......................and play for the 3-run dinger.

Granted, there are times where it is warranted.

But for example, take the RAYS game just now.......1st and 2nd and nobody out and the Jays are sacrificing.......FUCK. Of course, a force out at third was the result, ruining the inning.

AL game early innings never unless #9 batter totally overmatched. Just shows the lack of a complete game by today's players as 30+ years ago most everyday position player could try to get a hit while positioning ball to the right side of field.

In fact, if managers were to use the SUICIDE bunt 2x more than the SAC bunt pre-7th inning, they would be better off longterm in my opinion.

look at what teams like Japan, Korea, Cuba and others do with sacrifice bunts....

This past world baseball classic one thing was proved, teams that play the sport and dont mount a show are those that win.

the little things....

Best at hitting behind the runner as a kid according to the TV guys(Garagioal, Kubek , Gowdy) was Glen Beckert of Cubs advancing Kessinger for the guys like Banks, Willimas, Santo, Hickman.

Ted Sizemore of Dodgers another.

Let me make this clear, as to not be misquoted.

There are MANY times for a SAC BUNT to be called.

However many times it should not called for, one of which is in the 3rd inning with runners on 1st and 2nd after two consecutive hard hit base knocks.

To me, this is simply bad baseball strategy.

Yep, another lost art in the professional game. Used to be almost automatic you'd give yourself up to move the runners along. Stay back and punch the ball to the right side even if a bunt wasn't called.....

The bunt was fine its was just Molina who is slow that was the problem.

The sacrafice bunt is still a staple of National League ball games.

The Mariners attempted a suicide squeeze the other day in the 2nd inning and I about fell out of my chair.

Simply another factor not to be using it in that situation!

Sorry, not happy right now considering yours trully is laying -200 on the Jays(the team attempting the above sacrifice mishap), and are down 1-0 heading to the 5th.

If the RAYS were to head into their home opener at 3-3 Monday night, are they a playoff contender for the first time in their storied franchise history?

Actually this brings up a good trivia question.

What is the latest in ANY season that the RAYS were .500 or better?

Gotta believe its under 40 games, yes or no?

Short answer - no. :missingte

You got time Fish, they will get to Kazmy soon enough. I am thinking/hoping a Toronto 4-1 type of win. You got Blue Jays and I got under.
