Dallas at LA Clippers tonight - 1st round preview?

Well, I am in a tough spot tonight as Dallas comes to town to take on my Clips.

Should I root for the Clippers to beat the Mavs and prove we can match up with them in the 1st round of the playoffs?

Or, do I root for the Mavs to beat us and we can drop to the 6th seed and face Denver in the 1st round of the playoffs?

I think the choice is obvious. Tonight's game is a time where I hope Dallas sticks it to us as they are still in the race with San Antonio. It would be demoralizing to lose to Dallas all 4 times this season (we lost the first 2 and finish the season at Dallas), but I really feel we would drop to the 6th spot.

Here are the standing and games remaining:
LA Clippers 44-32
Memphis 44-33

Clippers remaining:
Dallas
Portland
at Seattle
Seattle
at Memphis
at Dallas

Memphis remaining:
Minnesota
at Charlotte
at Houston
Clippers
at Minnesota

The Clippers should lose to Dallas twice, beat Portland, and split with Seattle (playing much improved). That leaves us 2-3 and at 46-35 without the game against Memphis.

Memphis should at least split with Minnesota, beat Charlotte, and beat Houston leaving them at 47-34 without the game against the Clippers.

Now if the Clippers were to win tonight, things could get messy and we might be looking at the daunting task of playing either San Antonio or Dallas is Round 1. I think we match up well with San Antonio, but not with Dallas.

So tonight, I won't be watching and if we win, I hope we win out and get hot for the playoffs. If we lose, I become a Memphis fan for the rest of the season and hope they can jump us for that 5th seed.

Clippers playing as if they want to lose...they jumped out to a 12 point lead and then looked horrible the entire 2nd quarter.

Cassell will not play the rest of the game...Maggette still out with a bad back and can't even get out of bed...not looking good for the Clips.

I for one hope the Clips get that 6 seed so they can take it to the Nuggets and get a shot at the Suns. Much better matchup for them than the Spurs or Mavs.

The great thing about landing that 6th seed is we would also have home court advantage over Denver since we hold the better record and hold the tiebreaker if we end the season with the same record.
