Has anyone ever bunted for a home run?

I suppose it would be scored a bunt and a couple errors. But I've seen where some guys have hit a ball deep in the outfield and the outfielder misplayed it and instead of scoring it as an error it was scored as an inside-the-park home run.

What prompted me to ask this is that I had a dream where this happened. The batter popped a bunt up to the pitcher who mishandled it by having it bounce off the heel of his glove causing it to roll past the catcher. The base runner saw this and ran to 2nd base. The catcher hurriedly threw past the 2nd baseman and the ball went between the outfielders allowing the runner to come home.

The most I have ever seen was a double and that was college. A homer would not be possible.

Your scenario would definitely be called an error by the catcher. Home run not possible

"This game was memorable though for one of the strangest plays ever to take place on a baseball field; a homerun bunt."

Obviously there are several errors involved but the fact that this sort of thing happened in an all-star game makes it the closest thing to what OP was asking...

Never bunted for a homerun but I've pitched a couple of no hitters and ended up losing the game. More than once, LOL. I was a big kid and had no idea where it was going. If they didn't swing they'd get a base on balls more times than not......

Only Little Leaguer around who lead the league in no-hitters AND losses. :icon_conf

I see one scenario where you could do it. You attempt a bunt, and get a lot of wood on it and it goes over the 3rd basemen's head. Once it hits the outfield grass, it takes a very weird bounce past the leftfielder, who was already playing shallow. Once it gets past him, it rolls all the way to the wall. And the baserunner has to be Willie Wilson, because nobody could fly like him once he got going. There you have it!
