Since I live in the Philadelphia area and only visit NYC a couple tmes of year, you might want to ask someone that lives in NY. Howeved, I do have a few suggestion, DEFINATELY go to the site of the Worl Trade Center, I don't care what anyone says, there is no way to get the full realization of how catastrophic that day really was. Construction is underway for the new buildings but its still pretty much crater. There are alot of memorials and shrines and just a very touching, historical place...don't be suprised if you well up with tears though, the memories of that day come flooding back when you are standing there taking it all in.
The food in NY is the best in the world, make sure to eat 4 meals a day, seriously...Chinatown and Little Italy are a must visit!! (if you were to eat a different resturant for 3 meals a day for an 80 year life span, you would never visit the same place twice...thats alot of different food!!)
Time square is a must stop also, ESPN sportszone is a great place to get your sports fix on while you are there...3 levels, wall to wall tv's with every game in every sport playing simutaniously.
i would check those places out, no doubt. I also recommend taking in a show on broadway. There really are some amazing shows on broadway right now, to me, there is nothing quite like a play or musical in NYC.
whatever you choose to do I am sure you will have fun and you won't run out of ppl to ask for more things to do once there, one thing NYC dosen't lack is ppl.
have a great visit!!
