I know it's still early in the season but you could see all the components come into place for the Indians even from last year. Great lead off man and center fielder, solid pitching, explosive offense, and a very good closer. I can't see the White Sox or Detroit over taking them. They will win 100+ games this year.

YES I thought so today as well.

Healthy starting pitchers are the only key.

Absolutely. I think they get a big lead similiar to Whitesox from last year and leave the rest behind.

I think you're all nuts!

ONE week into the season and you have this team winning 100 games, the division, AND the world series....PULEASE!
I'm an Indians fan, but I'm also realistic and there are A LOT of good teams out there. For one, they don't really have a true ACE on their staff. Their best pitcher is Westbrook. Someone mentioned the Closer, so let's go there. He's Too fat, Too old, and although his numbers always seem to look good, He ALWAYS seems to be in danger of blowing a save and when he does, it's at critical times (but I guess closing is always critical)! He's not a lights out kind of closer. Anyone here remember last year when this SAME team couldn't score runs? Also I'm saying if you look at the pitching staff, it's THIRD best in the division (problem with Minn is they're like the Astros, all pitching, but will struggle to score any runs). Let's not forget about the defending world champs who HAPPEN to be in this division. All they did in the off season is get BETTER! A team that has a great staff, offense and defense, fundamental in all aspects, can play National league style little ball, AND put up runs in a hurry! (that's how they won last year and don't think they're gonna lay down for Cleveland) That's gonna be tough to beat! Offense better than say BOSTON OR NY? mmmmm.......NAH!
I love the Tribe and will support them all year long, but let us remember HOW LONG of a season it is and I don't remember the last team to win a championship in APRIL, cause it doesn't happen. Again, I love this team and hope they will go far, but let us take a step back for a little while before we go crowning division champs and see how it plays out!

Good luck to all, and to all a cash night!!!!!:money:

I disagree. We are early in the season, however, Cleveland had started developing into a potent team through all of the second half of last season except for the last 7 games collapse. This team is stout offensively from 1 through 7 and has a great defensive middle with Belliard and Peralta. Say what you want about Wickman, the guy saved 45 games last year. You're not saving 45 games in the American league without having decent stuff. Hafner is showing his superstar abilities that everyone has been raving about. Sizemore will become one of the best center fielders in the game defensively and with his bat. I could be wrong but truly believe that this team might have a special season this year.

Hey, I LOVE the Tribe and hope you are right, but you can't go giving them a trophie in April for ONE reason that you mentioned, last years collapse! They had NO pressure on them in the second half, it was ALL on Chicago, but when it COUNTED, they screwed the pooch! One other thing you neglected: Starting pitching
Neglect number two and the biggest Hurdle:

THE WHITE SOX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You want it, you're going to have to take it from them and that aint gonna be easy, but hopefully a season long battle! I hope you're all right and I am WRONG! Had the Kings tonight....up 17 at half.....LOSE by 13. I only said this cause in this case, they dominated for a HALF and who would have thought they would get blown out........That's why you PLAY THE GAME, cause a half don't make a game, and a week don't make a season!

it is too early to say that, but they should stay around all season.thier line up is even that much better now that the killer bs(boone blake) r showing signs of hitting.i know its still early.wicky is wicky,he saved 45 last year and have to hold your breath when he pitches and they could use davis or cabrera in that slot if needed.sabathia reminds me of colon when he pitch for cleve.,got all the stuff for #1 starter but sometimes looked like he should another 5 starter.i think the pen will be fine, and they r bring up carmona saturday,to pich in cc's slot.i think this team has a chip on their shoulder from last year and they r playing like it.its too early to crown them anything but so far,i like what i see.ps ben broussard sucks!

This past off season all the "experts" were saying that they made the biggest steps backwards. By losing Crisp, Howry, Millwood and Elerton (not sure if I spelled that right) I'd have to agree with them. I think they win this division with relative ease, but world series? Not this year. This lineup is still young and they will go through their slumps. Plus when playoff time comes they do not have that experience to get them through it. If they don't screw everything up this off season then I'd say next year they will be the team to beat.

THIS is a TYPICAL Cleveland fan with a TYPICAL reply!
I suppose next you're going to tell me the BROWNS make the playoffs next year....:missingte
People like you STILL think the Browns/Steelers have a rivalry! Not much of a rivalry when you CANT beat the other team. You think the Steelers even think TWICE about the Browns being on their schedule when all the Steelers do is get into the playoffs every year and just came off a Super Bowl victory....PULEEEEASE!
Believe me, I am a fan, but I am ALSO on the planet EARTH!
Doesn't take balls to say your team is going to win every year!
I think you've watched the movie "MAJOR LEAGUE" One too many times, so shut it off and come OUT of Planet Hollywood!

Good luck to you and all............Ric

PS-If you read my post, I didn't say their staff was terrible, I SAID it was THIRD BEST in the division BEHIND Chic. AND Minn and the biggest fan in the world can't deny that......Unless you were a guy who thought John Elway was over-rated :missingte

the Tribe has a really solid team...but you'll see later in the season that the White Sox pitching depth is just too much.

They have *6* guys who would be/are good starters(Buerhle, Contreras, Garcia, Vazquez, Garland, Mcarthy)

and with the White Sox *adding* Jim Thome, Cintron and a few others..people forget that the White Sox have actually gotten better
