Always a lock to be very funny. Any red sox fan who hasnt read his book
" Now I can die in peace" is greatly missing out. Other baseball fans would probably get quite a kick out of it too.

I liked this e-mail from one of his readers.....

Q: If Tiger decided to wrap the green jacket around Phil's neck in an attempt to strangle him while Jim Nantz and Hootie Johnson futilely tried to break up the melee, would that rank as the all-time "remember where you were" moment on live TV? I say yes, while my friend says that the O.J. chase would still be No. 1 followed by the Artest brawl. Can you settle this for us?

SG: I think it would depend on whether Nantz was trying to break up the brawl with that crazed/creepy Masters grin on his face. If he somehow maintained the grin during the entire fracas, it would rank above the O.J. Chase for me.

But I don't think he could pull it off. If anything, I think he would start sobbing. So my top seven looks like this ...

1. The O.J. Chase
2. Namath-Kolber I
3. The Artest Melee
4. Tiger strangles Mickelson (hypothetical)
5. Jimmy Snuka's appearance on Piper's Pit
6. The Anna Kournikova-Barbara Schett match at the 2001 Australian Open
7. Tyson bites Holyfield's ear

anyone have more info on #6? This has to be photogenic

The third-round doubles match between Anna Kournikova-Barbara Schett and Shinobu Asagoe-Yuka Yoshida was interrupted Monday when a fan threw a flare onto the court that landed a few yards from Kournikova's feet. Though the Russian claims she never felt scared, the match was delayed and calls immediately came to beef up security here.

You might be right but that's all I could find

Love the sports guy, but gloss over all of his Pats, Sox, and Celtics stuff.

One of the funniest writers out there.

In my opinion he isn't as good as he use to be from 2000-2003 basically before he joined the Jimmy Kimmel. His report in Vegas covering the Lewis-Rahman 2 fight where classics. While I still read everything he writes the two things I look forward now too are his mailbags and his NBA running draft lottery.
