Im looking for the best combo of quality and price. Who has the best deal on wireless high speed internet.

I see alot of these phone companys offering high speed on the phone packages. Anyone have good or bad experiences with these?

What about this Verizon high speed plan? Is it as good as they say?

Any info would be helpfull.

You guys are something else. This is a very gambling related topic. wireless internet is a very valuable tool when it comes to betting. This is the main reason I asked the question.

Whats gambling related about

OT- Wallet or pocket?

You tell me.

I have to read Wallet or pocket in the main forum while my gambling thread gets moved to who know where.

Not only is Wallet or pocket not gambling related. That thread serves no purpose in any way shape or form.

This question is very gambling related. Its a question that I would like to have as much imput as I can get.

I have been burned many times in the past by phone companys sales gimicks. I want to hear first hand experience from others.

But I guess I understand where the site is comming from. I dont want to take away valuable space from others wanting to choose wallet or pocket.

My phone contract runs out at the end of the month. I have to make a quick choice. I dont want to have to sign another 3 year contract only to regret it 2 months later.

By the way, im a wallet guy, lol.

Not sure what deals you are referring to, but cable is almost always faster than DSL. Hence DSL has been far more aggressive in pricing their product. Truth is a 768k and 1.5M transfer speed or any other comparisons really don't make much difference unless you are streaming video or downloading stuff off the net. For most web uses even the 256k I have used in Mexico was more than sufficient, even for doing things like using Skype. I don't know if I would want to watch MLB on a 256k though and definitely would suck getting songs off the net that way, but just keep it in mind.

Chop,

You do not buy a wireless connection from a carrier. You purchase a regular broadband connection and set up a wireless network. Once you have a broadband connection you have to purchase a wireless router that take your connection as input and outputs a wireless signal.

I personally have a cable modem/service with a Linksys wireless network. The Linksys router cost me about 100 to set up. It works very well.

Im talking about mobile wireless internet where I can travel and be online with a blackberry or a treo type device. Music and streaming are not important to me. I just need something to view lines and make bets.

My bad, I thought he was looking for a home connection. I hear lots of mediocre reports on the Verizon package, but you really don't get much choice. Cingular now has those connections you can get on some Sony computers or with an adapter, but one of our sales people has it and says it ends up being regular modem speed about 75% of the time. Bottom line is our wireless and cell networks here suck big time and need some major upgrading before always connected service becomes even close to a reality.

Thats what I have been stuck with for the last year is Cingular and it sucks bigtime. Between line shopping and making my bets it takes well over an hour and thats if im lucky. Its about as fast as the old 14.4 days. Need something at least 56k or above. Would be willing to try the Verizon but as you said, I have heard mixed reviews.

I travel a lot and take my laptop everywhere. I just hit a coffee shop or bookstore when I'm on the road and pay $3 for a 2 hour block of inernet service. I also have the net on my nextel, but none of my books are wireless yet.

Chop, Cingular is comitted to compete. Its 60$ if its piggybacked with a phone deal. Get a Sony t series which has 10 inch wide screen and built in cingular receiver. If its important its well worth skipping the Treo and get a real mobile computer. If you are in a Metro area you should be fine. Your other choice is Verizon. But the real choice is a small Laptop instead of a Palm style phone. One thing to note is that there is going to be a better network soon enough and I believe your pc card to get the signal will not be compatable.

I use the Verizon Wireless Broadband service with my Thinkpad. I know verizon has the best service for regular laptops....not sure about blackberry or treo though. Not cheap ($80/mo. or $60/mo. if you have a cell phone with them too)...but well worth it for some people. I would not rely on it as my only internet connection though.
