8- Tampa Bay @ 1-Carolina

7- Montreal @ 2-Ottawa

6- New Jersey@ 3-NY Rangers

5- Philadelphia @ 4- Buffalo

Tremendous rivalries and terrific matchups......with the 5th-8th seeds all being pretty damn good hockey clubs.

Looking forward to the playoffs with great anticipation.

One the $$$ Fisher - tThis one is wide open.

8. Defending champs
7. Arguably the hotest team in the NHL
6. 2 words - Marty Brodeur against a Ranger team that isn't peaking at the moment
5. Flyer starting to get healthy -- Sabres in funk of late.

I'd love to see the series odds -- might be some good coin to be made on the doggies.

Of course, I'll be routing for my Sabres, but for the good of the game I hope NJ makes a quick exit. There is NOTHING MORE BORING that watching the Devil's 4 man neutral zone trap for 60 minutes.

Very good playoffs coming up in both conferences. Besides the Carolina series I imagine all those series will go at least 6 games.

Lightning in five or less you think?

Don't see it.

SS--No, nothing close to certain yet............hell the Bolts may not even make the elite final eight.

LOL should of looked closer to who started the thread. Unfortunately for TB fans they are strongly outmatched. Can see a few one goal games, but doubtful that TB wins more than one game.

What do you base this on?

Both teams just swapped back to back OVERTIME wins over the weekend.

John Grahmme improved his record to 5-1 vs. the Hurricanes this year in doing so with his steller performance last night.

GERBER is an advantage for the Hurricanes between the pipes though still in my opinion and the Hurricanes certainly have earned the right to be favored in a 7-game series if these two do meet.

I would however be surprised if this series would not go at least six games.

Fair enough. I don't follow either of these teams very closely, but the lightning are not as complete as Carolina. Their play in the latter part of the season has been fairly lacklustre. We shall see. The entire playoffs are full of uncertainties this year.
