We have Alou back in the lineup and no one will want to miss Barry go yeard for his first time tonight.

Under 8.5 ALSO, as we have Lance Barksdale behind the dish, a big under ump.

I will say Giants 5-2 winner

Let's go Gyros!

Niekro is not starting tonight...Sweeney is starting at 1st and batting 3rd. The Giants are shuffling their lineup a bit tonight. I like the look a little better with Durham down at 6th instead of batting 3rd.

Good luck. :toast:

:drink: Clip - I also like their lineup with Durham down there. If we coul just get rid of Feliz somehow that would make my year. Pedro is the worst situational hitter EVER.

Niekro Please is a little saying I have, as I also noticed Sweeney will be in the lineup tonight, which I actually like. Niekro is a good young bat, but by young I mean he swings at pitchers a veteran wouldn't. Mark's bat is in my opinion just a tad better, but of course Niekro has more power.

Good Luck to you my friend.

Go Gyros!

Ah...ok. Sorry about that.

I really like Niekro and think he will play a big role in the Giants offense this season. He should be a 30 HR guy for sure. I just think tonight is a good time to give him a day off and shuffle the lineup a bit to try and kick start this offense. Durham in past seasons might have been a decent fit in this lineup batting 3rd, but he just isn't getting it done and I am not sure if he will all season. He is one of my favorite Giants, but I think his better days are behind him. He will still be productive, but not productive enough to bat 3rd in this lineup.

Good luck! :toast:

I completely agree with your statement. Durham's days are behind him, I just hope he can provide some leadership...thats if he doesn't get hurt. John Miller said on the pre-game that Niekro has a foot injury.

The part that is worrying me about Bonds is he has seen more good pitches to hit this year than in any previous years. These pitchers are challenging him and he is not hitting good pitches. In years past, he would be lucky to see one or two belt high fastballs a month. Pitchers are throwing him a few of these an at bat these days and he isn't doing anything with them.

"Heads up play of the year" so far this season to Vizquel for that dpuble play effort. Certainly not the play of the year for athletics but no one in the park saw that coming, steps on second then guns to third to get the runner rounding third....what an unbelievable play!!

Watching him on a daily basis, I have never seen a better defensive SS. That includes watching Ozzie Smith. He may not have been better than Ozzie, but he definitely doesn't take a back seat to him either. He is amazing.

Sure. The play was 1st and second for dodgers. Speedy Kenny Lofton at the plate, the ball was hit kinda towards up the middle so Giants second baseman played the ball deep, tossed it to vizquel, and he knew he would have no play at first, so just wheeled and fired to third. Caught the runner rounding the bag who was tagged out trying to hurridly get back to third. I guess the genieus on the play was alot of other players wuld have tried to hurry the double play to first, which Lofton would have beat out, leaving a 1st and 3rd situation for sure...Instead it was a double play on a non force play getting the middle runner first. if you see it on a replay I am sure you will respect the effort.

lol thanks for explaining it, so the runner getting to third, had reached it, but went a few steps far before stopping, and was caught out of the 3rd base by the baseman ? ( dont know what rounding the bag is )

Andy, that play was pure genius, 99.9% of guys never even think about that play. The fact he got the guy out tells you about how likely that throw is. He may have strayed a little far off the bag, but he was making a routine baserunning move and got burned by pure brilliance.

"Rounding the bag" means he reached the bag successfully, but then ran around the bag heading towards the next base, in the case being home. After he rounded the bag the 3rd baseman had already had the ball to the runners suprise, because of the heads up play by Vizquel...like I said you will appreciate it more if you actually see the play, very heads up on Vizquels part, he basically created the out because of his awareness, could very well have been the turning point of the game!!

Exactly, but it was better than that. When Vizquel received that ball he stepped differently and planted his pivot foot toward 3rd base and immediately went to 3rd with the ball. 99.9% of the time in most cases you would see the shortstop go to first, but with vizquel being the crafty veteran that he is went to third knowing he had no shot at the speedy lofton. You have got to watch sport center tonight!! :drink:

Come on Gyros lets get some insurance here!!

I really don't even think Vizquel knew he had the guy at 3rd, he most likley just thought he had a better chance at 3rd.....very excellent play. I was fist pumping at the "easter" dinner table watching with it muted.
