As a Buc fan I have to agree with the context of what you are saying more than most. However I think there is more than 1 "decent" receiver in that group. Underachievers? Sure. But to say only one even decent guy in the bunch is probably stretching it a little bit.

I hope the Charger front office is paying attention to your post. They should be based on their 2002 wasted pick

Yeah, Jabar Gaffney is the only semi-decent bunch in that group.

What I don't understand is why idiots keep drafting QB's out of the Pac-10 with first round draft picks. The NFL is replete with 1st round Pac-10 busts like Akili Smith, Cade McNown, Todd Marinovich, Ryan Leaf, Joey Harrington, Kelly Stoufer and Kyle Boller. Jury is still out on Aaron Rodgers but nobody should be holding their breath. Even Carson Palmer looked pretty iffy for a while.

Its obvious the Pac-10 qbs have splashy stats from all the pro-style offenses, but the systems are masking lots of mediocre talent.

Of the 18 busts (George, Ware, McGwire, Marinovich, Klingler, Maddox, Mirer, Shuler, Druckenmiller, Leaf, Couch, Smith, McNown, Carr, Harrington, Ramsey, Boller, and Grossman) this is the conference breakdown:

Pac 10 - 7
C-USA - 3
SEC - 3
Big 10 - 1
ACC - 1
WAC - 1
MWC - 1
Notre Dame - 1

Of the 11 good picks (Bledsoe, Dilfer -only on the list because of the SB win, McNair, Collins - longevity is a factor, Manning, McNabb, Culpepper, Pennington, Vick, Palmer, Leftwich) this is the breakdown

MAC - 2 (Though Roethlisberger will soon be joining that list)
Pac 10 - 2
ACC - 1
SEC - 1
Big 10 - 1
C-USA - 1
WAC - 1
Big East - 1
I-AA - 1

Also, in my mind Rodgers will turn out to be a bust as well. Thus ppeter's assessment is spot on, do not draft a Pac-10 QB with a failure ratio of 77.7%.

I think it's a little premature to label Carr, Boller, and Grossman busts. They might very well turn out to be, but at the moment it's a little early.

chad jackson or johnson or whatever his name is will be fine. he is damn good

be happy, be very happy if your team drafts Broderick Bunkley, defensive lineman, Florida St. Nobody has heard of this guy and he was originally penned to be late first round and has moved into the top 10.

Trust me on this one, this guy is solid gold. Draft people are getting it right by moving him up.

also Kamerion Wimbley defensive end Florida St is projected to go right about top ten. Before a nasty cheap shot by NC St on his knee knocked him out for 5 games last year up until the Orange Bowl where he came back Wimbley was leading the ACC in sacks.

Bunkley is better I think. If your team drafts Bunkley......

Not a big fan of Wimbley, think he is the next Jamal Reynolds personally, but I do like Bunkley.

As for Carr, I TOTALLY agree in fact. I thought that I would catch flack by listing Carr in the good QB's list, but it seems the opposite. You can make an argument to put him in either group, but I think he will turn out to be a good QB, just needs some time and a decent team. And this is the year, the OL will be improved, they'll have Bush and Davis in the backfield and he'll have Moulds and Johnson to throw to. This is his make ore break year.

Yeah but you're missing one KEY point...those were all Steve Spurrier recruits, and products of the Spurrier system.

Spurrier never went out and recruited, he had his system he threw any old WR in there and he made them look good. Then they got drafted high.

Chad Jackson was a legit talent and a Ron Zook recruit. Say what you want about Zook as a coach, it has nothing to do with Chad Jackson's ability at WR. Zook was regarded as a great recruiter, and Jackson was a huge land for his class from Alabama pulling them away from the Tide. Let's see how the new crop of Gators pan out in the NFL in the post Spurrier era.

I for one think Jackson is a tad overrated. He's a good WR, no doubt. I think he had a better combine than what he is worth though. He is not physical and has a definite problem going over the middle and making tough catches. He had a nice 40 time at the combine, and thats whats carrying him right now. He made big plays all through his career at UF down the field, and when teams started keying on him, he got slowed down. I think he'll make a nice #2.
