i am holding a 60 page audited financial statement in german. i need to fully understand it. i will pay to have it translated if the cost is reasonable.

Try your local university. There are many services available that many are unaware of.

If that document has personal info like acccount numbers or SSN, I dont think I would get it translated online unless you really trust the site and have done business with them in the past. Alot of idenity theft in cyber space.

Just curious, have you ever dealt with a foreign consulate before? First, it will be very difficult getting throught to a live person to even help you with this issue. Second, even if you do, they will tell you they do not handle this sort of thing, nor do they keep a list of private parties that do.

Just my anticipated reaction.

My suggestion would be to look in the yellow pages under translation services. In a city the size of Chi, there are bound to be some in business.

Glad they were helpful, maybe Israel is a different matter (since they want something out of us, hint hint). When I called the Japanese consulate before for assistance, they told me if I am not one of their citizens, to go jump in a lake, in so many words.
