suprise: Maddux for the Cubs. Usually starts the season slow, but is 3-0 to start the season, with something like a 1.50 ERA

disappointment=Adrian Beltre for the Mariners. After tatooing home run after Home run in the WBC, I really thought he would lite it up this season.
Currently he has:

54 at bats
0 Home Runs
0 RBI
Batting average .148

There is actually a 3rd disappointment in their linup if you wanna count Carl Everett. He is in a horrible slump right now, like the rest of the team. I Guess its contagous!!

Thome's 7 HR, 14 RBI and .349 avg is a little surprising given his horrible last year

Umm Barry Bonds? Obviously most expected him to drop off without the juice but 0 home runs through a tenth of the season?

yeah Barry could be one. I really expected him to struggle out of the gate not having played any regular season games in awhile, recovering from injury, steroid issues etc. I think he'll find his stride in a few weeks. But yeah hes been disappointing overall.

Beltre is a small surprise although he only puy up BIG numbers onse in LA. Everett is no surprise as to me most of his career he has ridden someones else coat tail but Suzuki has shown tremendous consistancy since being in the majors. Have not even noticed any small mini slumps. Brett Meyers has been strong for Philly as well as Mike Maroth for Detroit. Barry Bonds is still a huge threat, and his numbers will be down but due to more off days as well as still being pitched around. A surprise for me has been Prince Fielder for Milwaukee Brewers. Batting avg. below his weight and he isnt as big as Dad

Tim Worrell has been a pleasant surprise for the Giants. He is the ideal set up man but was pushed into the closer role for the Giants when Benitez started the season on the DL.

He is 6-for-6 on saves with a 1.23 ERA. Opponents are batting .192 against the 38 year old.

Biggest disappointment at the moment is KRod...especially after blowing another one last night when I had money on the Angels. His 6.75 ERA is raunchy...but the fact that opponents are batting .471 against him is disgusting.

Craig Wilson's start has been a surprise to us in Buccos Land. Nobody else mention Chris Shelton because we are sick as hell around here about that Rule 5 debacle!!
