To the new handicappers to the sports betting world.

For every second you spend handicapping a game you should spend 10 seconds hammering the concept of money management into your head.

Most new handicappers do not realize how dangerous of a perdicament you can get yourself into without proper management. Vegas doesn't get their money from poor handicappers, they get it from guys how cannot handle their money, such as myself. I've been handicapping for over 5 years now and still have not learned the proper principals of a bankroll such my current plight with a poor string of my own wagers this week as well as following others have resulted in putting myself into a financial hole that will take alot of work to get out of.

I will no longer be attending this forum as I cannot keep doing this to myself. I am apparently incapable (genetic flaw perhaps?) of improving my money management so I must leave this game permanently. A 2 1/2 year old daughter is too important for me to continue this behavior.

Again, to the new cappers. Understand that this can happen to you if you have not experienced it yet. You can be the most brilliant number cruncher and game analyzer in the world, it doesn't matter. Sports wagering is 10% handicapping, 90% money management. NEVER FORGET THIS or you may end up like myself.

I enjoyed the chats about the games and handicapping with you all. I hope I provided something useful to others to the forum in my time here.

Take care guys and good luck!!!

Money management is the number one fault of most on here, and my number one nemesis. If you don't come back around at some point I hope the best for you!

If you are smart enough to step away from the plate then you are probably smart enough and disciplined enough to take money management to the winners' circle.

Best to you and I hope to see you around at some point. Build a bankroll and come back to help us all out with your experience. Good luck. tulsa

Damn man...sorry to see you go. Valuable lesson, though, one that a lot of people would be wise to learn. Wish you weren't leaving the forum, but do what ya gotta do I guess. Good luck with all of your future endevours.

It takes a strong man to walk away. My hat is off to you.

I too have had problems with money management. I have periods of success which leads me to get overconfident. This, in turn, causes me to bet larger percentages of my bankroll per bet. The eventual losing streak comes along and I don't adjust my bets in time. I'm just thankful I'm not borrowing to get money to make bets. If I'm down I just walk away for a while.

Good luck to you Sekrah.

I joke about doubling down, but I think the capping is far more important. What I mean is-how hard is it to bet a smaller percent of your bankroll than your edge in a game? I have not bet more than 4 units(only once) per game and I'm stuck 75 units since mid-March. My problem is coatailing too many good, but slumping cappers. I'm still up overall so no complaints. Someone advised sticking with one capper per sport and it makes sense.
