Sportscenter reports that Claussen, the highest rated QB in high school (rising senior now) will verbally commit to the Irish.

We're bout to ghetto stomp the world now.
haha...don't know how the recruits coming in the fall are, but our backups right now SUCK. This kid looks unreal on tape...

If Weiss can make Brady Quinn a Heisman candidate, Claussen should be even better. ND is back.

While the hype on this guy is ridiculous...

he is easily the biggest recruit in college football history....

and several experts have commented that few even in the NFL have a release comprable to his.

Congrats Golden Domers.

Now...will he play his senior season? I would personally have him do a lot of sitting in the 2h of games.

The golden domers said the same thing about Ty Willingham when he started 8 (or 9?) and 0 and had them in the top 5 of the BCS.

We all know what happened to him!!

agreed. our LB corps are weak right now to say the least, and we all know how bad our defensive backfield has been...

I agree i think there was way too much hype around Claussen but i hope he lives up to it. Ron Powlus got torn apart by this school for not being Golden Boy but his injuries never allowed him to be great. As long as Claussen isn't cocky then i'll pull for him big time. Him and my boy M-Freeman

ND will win all their games 97-28 with the exception of the Navy game - that will be 24-21.

HAHA agreed...
i'm not gonna lie, i was at that navy game that ND won 27-24 a few years back, and alot of me was pulling for Navy...we didn't deserve to win and Navy played their asses off, shoulda won, kinda wish they did.

is Stovall still on the team? I like him more then the white guy with long hair that was across from him, forget his name.

Let's not forget the name Ron Powlus from the 90's. They had him in the Hall of Fame before his first pass. Probably the most hyped recruit ever. It's tough being QB at ND, but doing with all the pre-hype is next to impossible!

It's Jeff Samardzija. And he's much better than Stovall, who was largely a bust during his career with the exception of last year, where he played out of his mind. All the talent in the world, but could never put it together until last season. Samardzija and Rhema McKnight will be great next year...McKnight was very solid and ND would've been unstoppable last season had he not been hurt. Should be a fun year in South Bend...hopefully the D will improve.

A Little trivia for ya:

Since the USA Today first introduced its All-USA boys’ high basketball teams in 1983, only three (3) players have named been first team USA Today All-USA in high school, first team AP All-American in college, and first team All-NBA as professionals.

Name five (5) schools that have had two (2) or more quarterbacks drafted in the top 10 overall of the NFL Draft from 1990 to the present.

I think Fresno St., Washington St., Houston, Tennessee, and Oregon are the only schools with two in the Top 10. Fresno St. had Carr go 1 in 2002 and Dilfer go I think 2 in 1994. Washington St. had Leaf at 2 in 1998 and Bledsoe at 1 in 1993. Houston with Ware in 90 and Klingler at 6 in 92. Tennessee had Manning at 1 in 98 and Shuler at 5 or 6 in 94. Oregon had Smith at 3 in 99 and Harrington at 3 in 02. UCLA had McNown and Maddox but Maddox went I think 25 in 1992 and McNown went 12 in 1999. Marshall had two first rounders with Leftwich at 7 in 2003 and Pennington at 16? in 2000. USC had Palmer #1 in 2003 and Marinovich go somewhere in the first round in 1991 (late 20's I believe). Tulane has two 1st rounders with Ramsey as the last pick in the first round in 2002 and Losman at I think 22 in 2004, with Shaun King drafted in 2nd round in 99 as well. Virginia Tech had Druckenmiller late in the 1st round in 97 and Vick at #1 in 2001.
