Not trying to sound like an expert because beleive me I am FAR from one(in the midst of a 6 game losing streak, ugh) but one thing I have noticed since betting bases and reading other posts is that the PUBLIC (not the sharps) have a HARD time putting a percentage/moneyline figure on a game.

I know this sounds kind of simple but I think it is so true. I think what happens when people look at other sports (basketball/football) is they think the game thru and say for example Detroit is about 5 points better than New York (football/basketball) and than adjust for home field, intangiables, etc.... and than compare to the pointspread and the PUBLIC than creates an EXTREMLEY SHARP line, where most gamblers are on an even playing field.

Now when they(the public) look at a baseball game not alot of gamblers estimate what the final score will be. The way to PUT A PRICE on a baseball game is to estimate what chance out of 100% does a team have of beating their opponent and than converting that to a moneyline. It becomes even more complicated when you throw in runlines and totals in bases with the different juices involved. I think most gamblers don't have a clue on what a price is converted to a moneyline and this creates more overlays and better underdogs than other sports. It's just something we as american gamblers just aren't used to and were not taught at a younger age

I think this difference seperates the sharp baseball capper from the public and makes baseball a bigger edge for the educated bettor and harder for the public to beat. Just something I have been thinking about as I am trying to teach one of buddies ( a first time bases bettor but a 15+ year hoops/football bettor) a little about baseball capping on boring saturday afternoon.

Any thoughts, anyone?

One thing I forgot to add(and most important) is it is easier if you try an EDUCATE yourself on how to bet and moneyline conversions/percentages. If not that your in big trouble.

I also beleive that shopping for a good number(in baseball) is vastly UNDERRATED and not nearly talked about enough on here. A couple dollars here and a couple dollars there, add up to your bottom line at the end of the year ALOT more than you think.

One thing i've noticed is that quite often the sharper Rx cappers in various
sports are on opposite sides of games. Maybe as often as they are on the
same side.

I often purposely lose a few cents at a book so that if my wagers
lose there then a nice reup bonus awaits the next reload.

It also has to do with there being so many more games in any other sport with a lot more variables. The lines just arent as tight as other sports.

The fact that the standard line is a dime line helps a lot as well. It's very common that I can bet baseball vig free, i.e. I have the choice of a team at +104 or their opponent at -104. Even a small edge will produce a nice profit with access to those lines.

that is so tue. If you have a dozen or so outs and you shop around know reason not to have something close

i think baseball is easier because like right now Chicago White Sox have'
won 8 in a row and i can start betting them to lose and will play against them up to 4 times and i shouls win playing this style. i will bet 100, 200,
400, 800 and hopefully i will win their next start, but if i don't i will probably be getting money betting against them as well

The money is made in baseball at the beginning of the season when you start to get to the middle of the season it is alot harder to beat it!

if you were to look up the phrase "gambling suicide" in the dictionary you would see this post above as the definition

christian, sorry you disagree with this post! i have used this for yrs! i respect your post greatly, but i will only play this streak after 7 wins or loses and on the 8th over or under or team win, i go against the trend!
I agree the trend is your friend, but i have found success after 7 and only
playing four bets........ga only after 7 not before! i will go back to last yr and see how many 11 game winning streaks a team had

Baseball is a tedious sport to play. With all the moneylines, runlines, totals, alternate runlines, 5 inning lines and such there are tons of numbers. After making my plays Saturday and spending most of the day live betting on Tradebet I felt like I had just finished a stat exam.

While I am not agreeing or disagreeing with golfing arkansas, I will say that one huge factor that helps him with his 'system' is the inflation factor that occurs when a team is winning. His dog plays will be paying out more than they 'should' due to the over-bought nature of the winning team. tulsa
