Harrington already #2?

Tony Mandarich always comes to mind first when I think of busts...He and the Boz promoted themselves like no other college players before or since.

I'd have to agree with Ryan Leaf! First of all with the way he played. Second of all with what Bobby Ross gave up to get him in the draft. This idiot gave up two number 1's to move up one spot in the draft, when the team above him had absolutely NO reason to draft a QB. They already got their's the year before. Was a great "bluff" by the team above him (forget who it was) to make him give up those draft choices so the Chargers could get Leaf. It set the Chargers back about 4 years by not having a #1 draft choice for two years. And I think he even threw in a second rounder also. It wasn't until they got LT and Drew Brees in the same round that they recovered from Ross' disasterous trade. And that guy was supposed to be a genius.

3 Penn State runners in the top 20 busts...they've had their share of good ones too, Franco Harris, Lydell Mitchell, John Capelletti, Curt Warner, Larry Johnson.

Nobody knew the intentions of the Colts when GM Bobby Beathard engineered a trade with Arizona which allowed San Diego to draft the QB that Indianapolis didn't select first in the 1998 draft. Once the Colts announced their preference for Peyton Manning, Beathard used the second pick, which he had acquired from Arizona,to reel in Ryan Leaf. The Leaf trade netted Arizona three high draft choices (1-3-98 DE Andre Wadsworth, 2-33-98 DB Corey Chavous, 1-8-99 WR David Boston) and two players (RB Eric Metcalf, LB Patrick Sapp).

Usually when a team gets a bevy of picks they start to build a solid foundation. Leave it to Arizona to fuck that up.

No OT Mike Williams? #4 overall lost his job to an undrafted TE. Yes, TE.

uhhhhhhhhhhhhh sorry but Joey Harrington can no way be higher on the list than Ryan Leaf...compare their careers ...

The fact that Joey Harrington is number 2 made me stop reading the rest of the people on the list.

Ely Manning biggest bust

You have said this no less than 8 times in different threads. What are you smoking? I would hardly classify him as a bust. Many NFL teams would love to have him as their starter.

It never said the players were listed in order. It just grouped them together. Clearly because Leaf and Mandarich don't show up till way later and they are two of the biggest busts in NFL history.

Also no way you can say Eli Manning is a bust. some may not like him but he's not a bust so far.

The list is not in order. If it were put in order it would start #23 and count down to #1. They just grouped all the worst overall picks all together.

My vote for #1 goes to Heath Shuler. I was so excited when the Skins drafted him and he was so overmatched in the NFL.
