would you consider them? some can ride at least part time until they are al least 60 or more. would be impossible to compet in most sports with bowling and golf the possible others.

however if you ride a horse like that every muscle in your body seems to ache forever and you need incredible reflexes to avoid spills and disaster. not to mention what kind of nerve it takes to compete with animals 10-20 times your body size.

i remember famous sports doctor richard kerlan sayin lafit pincay was the greatest athletic specimen he ever saw and he was the long time doctor for the rams, lakers, dodgers, kings, tennis etc.

JOCKEYS are fabulous athletes, of course they are.

At the last bash, I rode/played that arcade game where you are the Jockey.

After 2 minutes, my heart was beating 290 beats a minute and it took me 2 days to recover from the soreness in my legs and back.

If being a jockey is anything like the game at Dave & Busters; Jocks definitely have my vote for YES. Not to mention the need to consistently make weight to work.

:lolBIG: :missingte - Yep, thats the game I was talking about too. As good of a workout you will ever do for roughly 1-2 min.

Think it complicates matters too if one is over six feet tall.

Yes, they are are. They are small, but buff.

Pool players are not, poker players are not.

in most sports you almost have to be big, so I am going to say yes they are athletes. Being small should be an advantage somewhere. Ever party with jockeys? They can drink a hell of a lot of beer. They would be legally drunk in 2 beers yet can consume 20 and still walk and see straight.

If you know anything about horseracing you know that jockeys are most certainly athletes. There shouldn't even be a question about it.

Yes. No doubt about it.

98% of the RXers would be dead after warming up a thoroughbred, myself included, let alone with race riding, exercising horses, cutting weight, etc. Just posting for any length of time will tire most, especially with the raised irons jockeys use.

most definately

have endurance, strength and co-ordination

balance that with having to ride at a certain weight

a hard job no doubt

needless to say falling off would not be equivalent to falling off a chair at the office
