Eddie....is playing with fire. He may be on his way to the minors. Not a very good closer anymore. He has absolutly no out pitches. He relies on the splitter a little to often and when it doesnt sink it hangs....therefore leading to alot of balls saying hit me......never have been fond of him as a closer.

And by Brian Anderson, nonetheless. Approx. 45% of his AB's are strikeouts.

I believe the Ms signed him to an extension this past offseason...so they would have to designate him for assignment...which right now seems like a good idea...

Inexcusable to allow a kid hitting .167 tie the game w/2outs...I am just glad he did not walk Dye or else I would be losing again...

Guardado's stats so far this season: 0-2, 10.80ERA, 6.2IP, 3HRs allowed, 8ER...guess a few million just does not go very far these days!

There are alot of teams out there right now that dont have consistent closers....Mariners, D-Backs, Blue Jays, Rangers, and of course you have your bottom tier teams.....Royals, D-Rays, Pirates and Marlins...add the Dodgers to the list since Gagne is hurt and they are counting on Baez at the time. Makes me think twice when I am capping a game....bullpens are huge in this game and to me there is none better than the Angels......Oh yea, I forgot to mention Reitsma of the Braves, just not a good closer. All these little things that sometimes get overlooked that play vital roles in winning or losing since a majority of the games are decided by 1-2 runs.

Funny thing is good old Eddie gets two real tough outs in Crede and Dye...and then gets beat by a kid that is in a huge slump...he could not focus and get the last out...amazing...

Soriano should be closing games for Hargrove...he has the power arm to do it...maybe this was the last straw for Guardado.

When you say don't have consistent closers, are you basing that off this year? Because so far Baez is 6/7, Valverde is (I believe) 4/5, BJ Ryan is 3/3.

Inconsistent in my book would refer to guys like Guardado, Miceli, Burgos, Benetiz/Worrell (even though his numbers don't show it) and others.

If you are hesitant to cap the Dodgers based on their faulty early season bullpen you may want to reconsider. As of late, they have finally reached that magic point where things are going well and roles have been defined. If you take away the first week or two of the season, you'll see the tide has turned dramatically. In fact to me, the Dodgers should now start their slow shift forward through the NL west standings. Here we are at April 24th and the Dodgers have only put their projected opening day lineup on the field twice (2-0).
These are the scary thoughts.

Furcal has started off horrible - he is extremely streaky and should eventually remember he's a leadoff hitter and not a long ball swinger. Lofton is healthy and has two triples in only 5 games back. Drew has reached base safely in count it, 28 consecutive games dating back to last year. Kent has started off real quiet too, and similar to last year, broke out with a vengeance. And what can you say, knock on wood, Nomar is healthy.

What a boost he brought tonight. Grand slam against Brad Lidge in the ninth...are you kidding me?
