Is it the rush or the money

I am trying like hell to change over my way of thinking. I love the rush of picking the winner. To be a complete player though I need to learn how to look at it from the money point of view. I love the ponies there is not better rush than beating the chalk. But sometimes I make a bet with the feeling that if the favorite drops dead down the stretch this horse can win. Or wouldn't it be awesome to be able to pick the Royals when they play the yankees. Now this way of thinking is foolish but the rush is there and that gets my bankroll real small real quick. I am looking for ways that can help me identify when I am reaching for that rush or making a good sound bet. I let the odds play me instead of playing the odds. WOW I like that line lol.

Any advice would be great thanks.

hey therightside, good post,....yeah if useing the ponys as an example i definately know what you mean,.........back in the day when my buddies had some pretty decent horses and a good trainer(who was flat out honest with no agenda giving us information) it was real easy for me to use restraint and just play his horses,.......he had an incredible run, and i was just killin a couple books,........as i kinda mentioned to ya a couple days ago,...use to go to hazel for the silmulcast and play those certain races,....i sat near all the regulars(up towards the top of the dinning area and to the corner),...........and as i was there just basically playing a few races and putting quite abit of return investment in my pockets,....i couldnt help but just start reallizing how many people bet every single race,....oh my word,............and yet a few years later and with it being so easy to sit at home and with a few clicks of a mouse i find myself betting all kinds of races just for the heck of it more or less,...so i really think it takes alot of control and the ability to pick and choose what plays you want,........kinda the same in sports betting,......i mean i like the underdog plays in general(mostly football) but i think you have to be in tune with it and have some reasons(good or bad) why to play it,...and not just play a long shot for the heck of it:modemman:
