Alford lands top-50 recruit for next season

The wait was worth it for the Iowa basketball program. Tyler Smith, a 6-foot-7 small forward regarded as one of the top 50 recruits in the country, ended a lengthy recruiting process Wednesday by signing a letter of intent to join the Hawkeyes next season.“Tyler will have an immediate impact on our team next season,” Iowa coach Steve Alford said in a statement. Smith is re-garded among the top wing prospects in this year’s recruiting class after improving his perimeter game over the past season at the Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, Va. Blending athleticism with tenacity on the boards, Smith got attention from Kentucky, Pittsburgh, Memphis and Cincinnati before selecting the Hawkeyes over Pittsburgh.

Probably will have to be a 2lb or less grouper to be able to sneak into the visiting teams forum.

BUDMAN STUFF----Being weaned on Budweiser as a teenager in the 70's, of course.

DOC--Thanks for the recruiting update, nice job by Alford and his staff.

Well, the usually optimistic yours trully is not so optimistic about the Lightning advancing past this first round, so the grouper will be put on hold for some other year in all probability.

This is the type of Grouper that I was considering.
