I know we have this thread every year but I think this year is different. Not because the Yankees are worse than the past but the AL is better.

Teams like Toronto, Cleveland, Baltimore, Detroit and others are improved and the distance between the haves and have nots is smaller.

I'm sure this thread will be pulled up in a few months to rub it in my face but I think this is the year the Yankees fail to make the playoffs

By My count, there are 21 level+ starters in the al, and just 17 in the NL

Last Year it was 14 in the al and 23 in the NL.

The power has shifted.

How many just flat BAD teams are there in the AL vs the NL
AL: SEATTLE, KANSAS CITY, BALTIMORE, TAMPA BAY (I don't count potential, they still cannot pitch yet)

NL: FLORIDA, WASHINGTON, PITTSBURGH, COLORADO, SAN DIEGO (they just don't have the horses to overcome that lineup), Arizona is pretty bad although I have a future on them over some number, Cinci will also have a losing record.

Sir, with all due respect, the Yankees will make the playoffs. They are off to a slow start but still will probably win their division, you can bank on it. They have too much talent not to.

Have to think Toronto will take more games from them after loading up, other much improved teams also....I said before the season the Jays would beat either Boston or NY and it looks to me early it might be NY. Should make it an interesting run at the end.

Yankees not making the playoffs this year! What planet do you live on??

Last people said the same thing LATER in the year when the Yankees were further out and I said it then, and I will say it now, the Yankees will win!

Seattle, Baltimore and San Diego are not 'bad' teams. They certainly do not deserve to be lumped into the same category as Florida and Kansas City, which are really, truly triple-A teams. It's astounding how young and atrocious both of those clubs are. If this were Britain, they'd be banished to a younger league.

in the last three games (all at home) they've scored a total of 8 runs.

not good for the highest paid lineup of all time.
