Any insight as to how tough it would be to get Mayorga-De La Hoya tickets at the MGM for next Saturday?

Thanks

DeLaHoya has always been a tough ticket as he historically fights on these Mexican holiday weekends and the folks come in droves from SoCal. I'm sure a ticket could be had, but expect to pay a premium over face. My experience at the big fights is if you are not in the first twenty rows it's really not worth going as you are too far away.

Too bad the Hispanics didn't decide to boycott the fight instead of Monday. You could have gotten a ticket easy then.

Good point. I feel the same way about NHL games (especially now that I have a wide screen).

p.s. You have mail at Cox.

Could not disagree with you two more on having to be up close to the action. Over the last few years I've been to Gatti-Ward I, II and III (closest for the first, not a bad seat in the house at AC Boardwalk Hall), Hopkins-DLH (last row in the Grand Garden Arena), Morales-Pacquiao (One row off of the floor) and the atmosphere and buildup in the arena for these fights is unmatched, especially when nationalistic pride comes into play as it did in the last two mentioned fights. In Vegas there's nothing like a big fight night, espcially a DLH fight. Nothing beats a big time prize fight. Not HD, not a big screen TV, not HBO.

I guess it makes a difference if you have something at stake in it (national pride, not betting). I've been to fights where I had a few thousand riding on them, sitting in $200-$400 seats that I could have helicoptered to the ring from and felt differently.

Unless Leslie Stewart comes out of retirement, I'll never have a boxer to be able to back with nationalistic ferver. But the Grand Garden Arena was electric when Morales and Pacquiao met for the first time. Absolutely buzzing.

TT, if you're a boxing fan do yourself a favor and go to a big time fight when you have the chance, even if the combatants are in the waning years of their careers. Still an experience. If you're not a fan you can skip it and be none the worse off.
