GAME #909-910
ST. LOUIS - 3B Scott Rolen (Bronchitis) missed last 5 games, expected to miss at least another few days.
The Post-Dispatch reports tests taken late last week ruled out influenza for the illness
that's kept Rolen down for five days. According to the club, Rolen has been fighting a bout
of bronchitis, a case severe enough that Rolen was kept home to rest to avoid bringing the
illness into the clubhouse. GM Jocketty said Rolen could be around the club Sunday, with an
eye on traveling with the team to Cincinnati. Rolen is expected to need a few days to recover
his strength, but just being around "is a step in the right direction," manager La Russa said.
GAME #919-920
NY YANKEES - RF Gary Sheffield (Knee) left last game, "?" Sunday vs Toronto.
The Star-Ledger reports Sheffield yesterday suffered a bruised left wrist and right knee in a
tumbling collision at first base, but the Yankees did not take X-rays and consider Sheffield
day-to-day. "'Sheff' is OK," manager Torre said. "His wrist is a little sore. So, we'll have
to see how that is (today)." Sheffield came down on his right shoulder and banged his head on
the ground. But, Yankees team physician Stuart Hershon diagnosed Sheffield only with the
contusions to his wrist and knee.
GAME #923-924
BALTIMORE - SS Miguel Tejada (Knee) left last game, "?" Sunday vs Seattle.
The Sun reports Tejada started his 943rd consecutive game yesterday, but was several steps slow
in the field and on the bases because of a knee injury. Tejada hyperextended his left knee Friday.
He left Saturday's game in the sixth. Manager Perlozzo said his shortstop had told a coach he was
in too much pain to play the field. Trainer Richie Bancells said Tejada received an MRI that showed
no damage. "I think I might be a DH or something tomorrow to help it get better," Tejada said.

GAME #715-716
INDIANA - F Predrag Stojakovic (Knee) missed last game, "?" Tuesday vs New Jersey.
The Star reports Indiana could be without Stojakovic for Game 5. HC Carlisle said that there is some
concern whether Stojakovic's injured right knee will be better in time for Tuesday's game. Stojakovic
missed his second game of the series Saturday. Carlisle said, "I'm not sure we're going to have him
Tuesday, either. It's that kind of situation." Stojakovic, who averaged 19.5 points since joining the
Pacers in midseason in the Ron Artest trade, also missed Game 2 with the same problem and was ineffective
in Game 3. So, the Pacers decided to sit him out again Saturday.

GAME #53-54
DETROIT - C Steve Yzerman (Back) missed last 2 games, "?" Monday vs Edmonton.
The Free Press reports he didn't even give it a try this time. Yzerman
(he is day-to-day with a back injury) missed yesterday's game, his second
straight in the series. "There's two days," HC Babcock said. "We're cautiously
optimistic he can get back." Yzerman was injured in Game 3. He was non-committal
about being able to play tomorrow in an interview between periods yesterday. Yzerman
had an MRI, but there are still no indications whether he will be able to return Monday.
"I am day to day," Yzerman said. "I am a little stronger."
