Folks, the purpose of this thread is to present this "rather famous" play that has been around for several years, has won numerous awards all around Latin America and is really worth the price of admission and will entertain you and make you think about many things.

I went to see this play on Sunday night at a school gym in Heredia (the play was put on to earn a little money for a retirement center here in Heredia that is in need of money, the home has dozens of old people and has a large debt). This play, I believe is not regularly done anywhere (and if it is, someone can point it out). The play is a monologue done by Cesar Melendez, he is a Nicaraguan inmigrant that has faced many troubles since arriving at the Nicaragua-Costa Rica border. For about 2 plus hours he talks to the Jesus crucifix you see above... The play is worth it, trust me, if you get a chance to go see it (they put it on for different reasons like I pointed out before) go. You will not regret it. The play is in Spanish but I think you will still understand most of it if you have a basic understanding of the language.

He will make you laugh, he will make you think and you just might end up teary eyed at the end. Very strong performance in my opinion and MOST definitely worth any time or money you might put into going to see it.

Any opinions or comments are welcome.

Slim.

It sounds sad but like a good play. I hope it is still going on at the end of the month, I wouldn't mind seeing it. It reminds me of what I hear from a book named "Limon Blues". Is it similar to "Limon Blues"?

Life is what you make of it. Everyone starts somewhere only to better the next generation. My father's parents were poor farmers 40 years ago, 1 bedroom with 7 kids. It is imperative to always never forget where you or your family has come from in order to never lose sight of the more important things. Like my Hi5 profile says, "Quiero encontrar las cosas en la vida que mas importante de los materiales." Dunno if that makes sense but that is my general feeling of life.

I would rather be poor and have my pride and family; than be rich and be lonely. But for those who are forunate and have worked hard to get where they are at, they cannot and SHALL NOT be disciminated upon either for wanting to hold the successes they have worked for so hard for. Go ask the Nica who owns the corner market (tienda/super mercado) if he wants to pick coffee beans again... he will say, "No! I have worked so hard picking coffee beans in order to buy this store and now that I have this store, the Costa Ricans want to kick me out because I am 'the same' from a socio-economic standpoint". So it is okay to exploit people and take their money but bad to integarate people. Bullshit if you ask me.

Slim,

Two things

1. Is there an english translation of the litertaure?

2. If you get a chance, watch the movie "Diarios de motocycletas" It is a very good story on why Ernoesto "Che" Guevara wanted to unify the peoples of Latin America and how he became the "thinker" he was. I don't necessarily like Che's communist ideals but it was a beautiful movie in helping the less fortunate and how he was humbled through his journey through Southern Latin America.

It Is On Tonight!

Teatro:

El Nica regresa a los escenarios
<!--Ignored nowebout tag-->
