Not only is the total on the Cubs 9, but it's currently sitting at -121.
LARGE play on the Cubs Over in this one is in order.
Couple of thoughts:
* Maddux is NOT going to pitch 1.35 ERA, 0.87 WHIP for the season. It's an unsustainable pace that he will not be able to maintain. I'm a very big believer in pitchers being "due" to get hit. They have a bunch of great outings, get a tad bit too comfortable and lax, and then get pounded. It's going to happen sooner or later.
* Diamondsbacks CRUSHED Maddux last season. 2 starts, 11.00 ERA, 1.78 WHIP, .350 BAA. Luis Gonzalez is batting a career .316 BA, 1.035 OPS vs Maddux in 98 at-bats. Shawn Green is batting a career .429, 1.387 OPS vs Maddix in 28 at-bats.
* D'Backs Miguel Batista is career 7.14 ERA, 1.88 WHIP, .303 BAA against the Chicago Cubs and is has looked horribly over the last few games.
On the over.
