San Francisco +1.25 over MILWAUKEE (1:05 PM)<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
The Giants Brad Hennessey is slowly making a name for himself at this level and if you’ve never seen this guy pitch than you’re unaware of the wicked stuff he possesses. Hennessey has won both his road starts this season, allowing four runs and eight hits in 13 1-3 innings and the opposition is hitting a puny .178 against him. In 19 innings of work he’s surrendered just 14 hits. Meanwhile, Doug Davis comes in with an ERA of 6.39 and is having difficulty finding the strike zone. In his last home start on April 23 against Cincinnati, Davis walked nine in just five innings. He has walked 17 in 16 innings over three starts at Miller Park this season and has also has walked 17 in his last 14 innings overall, covering three starts. Walking batters is bad strategy and it’s not like the Brewers have the offense to compensate, because they don’t. Anyway, the Giants are a live pooch here and we’re on it. Play: San Francisco +1.25 (Risking 1.5 units).

San Diego +1.27 over LOS ANGELES
The Padres keep doing damage on the road and we see absolutely no reason to jump off this train now, not against Brett Tomko and the reeling Dodgers. San Diego won its fourth in a row last night by belting out 17 hits and has now scored 32 runs in its last four games. Clay Hensley has pitched 21 innings and has surrendered just one jack. In 69 career innings he’s allowed just 53 hits and the opposition is hitting just .215 off him. If this guy can learn to throw strikes consistently he’s going to be around for a long time because he most certainly has above average major league stuff. A dose of the Dodgers is a good thing at the moment. L.A. has dropped four in a row and the bullpen has been atrocious. In fact, the pen has an alarming 6.68 ERA over its last 10 games. Brett Tomko will go for the Dodgers and he need no introduction. He’s pitched for six teams in nine years and is your basic third or fourth pitcher, who can come up with a beauty one night and than get bombed in is next two starts. Padres are going good and the Dodgers are going bad. Play: San Diego +1.27 (Risking 1.5 units).

BOSTON –1½ +1.23 over Toronto

How do you think Josh Towers feels going into this game? He’s 0-5 with a 10.38 ERA and every time he throws a strike it gets ripped for a double. His confidence is shot to hell and will pitch under immense pressure here because if he get smoked again he’ll be either in the bullpen or the minors. Towers has been torched for 38 hits in 20 innings and that includes six bombs. Towers has about as much chance of throwing a good game here as Raja Bell has of receiving a warm welcome in Los Angeles. We all know Matt Clement can pitch and all he has to do is hold the Jays to five runs or less and we’ll be cashing this ticket. Aside from Justin Speier and B.J. Ryan in the eighth and ninth innings respectively, the Jays bullpen has been a serious sore spot. Make a note of one Dustin McGowan, he’ll be the guy replacing Towers in the Jays starting rotation after Towers gets his clocked cleaned again. Play: Boston –1½ +1.23 (Risking 1.5 units).

ARIZONA –1 +1.19 over Chicago

The Cubs without Derek Lee is like a shoe without the shoelace. To say the Cubbies are struggling would be an understatement. In fact, Chicago is hitting .219 and has been outscored 39-5 in losing four of their last five contests. Chase Field is a place they’ve always struggled, as their six wins in their last 27 trips here would attest to. The Cubs have called up another rookie, Rich Hill, to pitch in this one. In 10 appearances for the Cubs last year Hill went 0-2 with a 9.13 ERA. Meanwhile, the D-Backs have won four in row and seven of nine and Juan Cruz has performed brilliantly. In 17 frames he’s allowed just seven hits and struck out 17 to go along with his 2.65 ERA. How in the world are the Cubbies going to pull this one out is beyond us. Play Arizona –1 +1.19 (Risking 1.5 units).
