Santana and the 'pen just barely hung in yesterday but those count...

Went 2-0 yesterday, won 874. Salvaged the week, at 13-15-2 and down 929. Through 2 weeks, my yearly figure is 31-36-3 and I'm down 754. The parlay players (especially the correlated ones) are making a killing these days in baseball. Time for me to start getting involved more in those...

Onto the Monday fray. Starting yesterday morning, I began making my own numbers for the baseball. I try to beat CRIS and Olympic to the Don Best screen so I can see where my numbers are at in relation to theirs. I will begin betting my own numbers today. Let's see how it goes.

I made the Cubs -112. Since I am able to take plus 106 at Jazz this morning, I did it, thinking that the price will come down despite the Padres' hot streak.

Maddux had his worst start of the season last week, allowing 5 runs (he had allowed 5 runs in his previous 5 starts combined). His fastball topped out at 85 and had good movement but he just left too many balls out over the heart of the plate, and the Snakes (who are hitting extremely well right now) made him pay.

Maddux is 23-14 with a 2.97 ERA in 41 starts against the Padres. He's won two straight and four of his last five against San Diego.

Young has been excellent for Diego as well, allowing only 41 runners in 35 2/3 innings. Stil, he is winless in three straight starts. The Fathers are looking for their ninth straight win for the first time in seven years and have not swept the Flubs since 1992.

The play: Flubs plus 106 - 200 to win 212

I made the Seattle total 8-flat. They came with something much higher and I pounced on it. Fossum is 0-2 in six appearances against Seattle despite posting a 0.96 ERA in those outings. He hasn't allowed an earned run in nine innings at Safeco Field. That's his lowest ERA against anyone in the AL he's thrown more than 2 innings against. He threw 6 1/3 shutout innings in his last game against a Yankees but got a no-decision. The Mariners have gone six straight games without a homer and are struggling to score.

Meche hasn't won since April 6 and has struggled against Tampa lifetime, but he took a 2-hit shutout into the seventh last time against the ChiSox, only to watch Joe Crede hit a grand slam off reliever Rafael Soriano. He had some nice movement to his fastball that day, especially his two-seamer, which was sinking nicely. Tampa has struggled with sinkers all season.

The play: TAM/SEA UNDER 9 -120 - 480 to win 400

GL all! Back to stalk a little later.
