They have been trying to sell for a while, but I had no idea they would sell to such a terrible company. I thought they would work another deal with Pinnacle.

Can someone please shed some light on this for me?

I thought Hollywood was a shop that catered to sharp bettors who liked the -107 lines. If Sportingbet takes them over and puts them on the same software as all the other books, than the sophisticated players will leave immediately for greener pastures, knowing Sportingbet lines offer very little to the savvy bettor, with their low limits and vanilla lines. Perhaps Hollywood takes more square action than I am aware of.

Why Sportingbet would be interested in Hollywood is not clear to me. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I happen to like Sportingbet. They are financially secure which is the most important factor in my book. However, I wonder if they will stop catering to sharps at Hollywood. I am guessing Hollywood never booted anyone for winning. If this changes, having one less book that won't kick winners out is definitely not good for the industry.

From a survey that I just completed for them, it looks like Sportsbook.com group is looking to get more competitive in the industry including reduced juice nd early lines. Then again they just might be picking them up as a wise investment and keep things the same.

No matter what they do with Hollywood, they will get access to their database of customers and that should help target/retain more business. Obviously the people who only want the -107 juice or other Hollywood perks may not stay, but it helps turn other people on to the SportingBet sportsbooks who are not as bad as some people make them out to be.

I filled out that survey also. It was a kind of survey that took a pretty long time to complete, but it showed me that they might be considering some changes to be more competitive. They gave about 20 categories - asked you to rate which sportsbook out there was the best in each, and how sportsbook.com compared.

I have had an account at the UK operation of Sportingbet and never understood the problems people seemed to have with all their clone, individually managed, books.

I always found courteous CS and my only complaint was their dual lines and being dealt the sharper line.

SBR have retracted and SBT have denied..
