Bonds is a douche bag for so many reasons, but here is the latest. Last night, during the post game interview in Philly, Bonds was asked if he will pursue the balls he hits as he gets closer to the Ruth mark, matches it, and the ball that surpasses it. His reply was "NO, Let the fan(s) keep em, that will give them the chance to better their lifestyle". Presumably by selling the ball on e-bay or whatever. He was then asked if he would sign the ball for the fan, he said "NO". Wouldn't his signature on the ball increase the value of the ball? He is about to break the Babes record for Gods sake, and he won't take 2 seconds to sign the damn ball for a US serviceman!!!!!!!!!! What a fuck up he is, the more I think about this the more and more I detest "big head". The guy imo is a douche!!!

I don't think he can sign anything without breaching his contract with Topps

Being a US Serviceman isn't what it used to be
<!-- / message -->

That has been the case for a long time, in fact since the late 40's. I speak from experience from the Viet Nam era.

I don't think Bonds gives a crap whether the guys in the Army, is a CEO or deals crack.

Sure he's an a*shole -- but I don't think the serviceman bit makes him anymore of one.

Would it be different if it was a cop, fireman, nurse, single mom working 2 jobs?

I am sorry for using the "R" word - and NOTHING EL

I am also sick of the "service man" friggi routine!!!

Some of you Rx posters might be gooey eyed bozos living in lala land, but
Barry Bonds didnt just fall off the turnip truck!!!

That guy wants Barry bonds to sign that ball so that he can get an extra zero added to it when he sells it on ebay!!!! or gives it to his son or wife or crap!!! A signed barry bonds ball is almost as valuable as any family gem!!!!

It all friggin boils down to money money money!!!! That overated service man wants the signature for profit and profit alone!!!

I may stand alone but i will applaud Barry Bonds for refusing to dilute other future memorabilia by endorsing every friggin ball some GI joe shoves in his hand!!!!

He does not deserve anything for being a "service man".. (Most people forget that being in the service does not entitle you to one friggin thing!!! And should you be denied any of lifes friggin luxury, (and getting your friggin ball signed so you can pimp it on ebay is a friggin luxury)you dont get to bitch and whine about it because you were in the service!!!!! Go tell that shit to the dude sitting in a wheel chair with no arms, legs or even teeth to chew his food with!!!:drink: :drink: :drink:

I was back in Philly this past week for personal reasons, but I did catch all
the Giant games. Bonds was really ragged on big time...just smiled and took it like a man. Bonds told the Philly press that it was way worse in L.A. Alot of the boos turned to cheers when he connected Sunday nite. He hit that HR over 450 feet off the McDonald sign in the upper deck. If some of you Bond-haters would go after others instead of just him, then maybe you would get some support. If baseball embraced Mac and Sammy and did nothing to them,
then why is Bonds taking all the heat for the rest of the cheaters in BB.
I firmly believe that when the dust settles, you will be amazed at some of the names that will come out, included will be some star pitchers..JMHO.

Here is another twist to the story. After Barry refused to sign the ball the kid was approached by "Bonds on Bonds" ppl and needed him to sign a release so he could appear on the show. He said no. I would imagine he will probably change his mind though.

I know what its like being in the service as well, spending 4 years in the Marine Corps. When I was in I was a teenager and in my early twenties. i simply loved loved talking with other service members and especially retired longtimers. These days though I hardly ever mention to anyone I meet in person that I was in the Corps. because the 2 questions I usually get tight away are..."Have you ever killed anyone?" or "Did you like it". The answer to both are private so I just prefer to not let anyone know about my military past.

He cannot sign products for the Upper Deck line. He can sign at shows, etc.

Interesting times we live in.

Back in the day, players made very little $$ but always made time for the fans, most wouldn't think twice about signing a ball for a kid.

BUT--that was in a much simpler time before one could take said ball and sell it on e-bay for a massive profit. I'm not defending Bonds at all, but sadly enough he probably has to question everyone's motive for wanting him to sign anything anymore.
