reports on the radio that anyone who stands up & cheers at the hockey game in the first bowl are being told to sit down & shut up. Nobody stands, Nobody cheers. The arena is filled with TIGHT ASS governemnt employees.

In edmonton & Calgary the entire arena sings O Canada together... In Ottawa, NOT A SOUL.

Yes the stadium sells out now, but when Ottawa was losing it was not selling out, & if they start losing again it is sure to happen again.

we have a Triple AAA Baseball club with a beautiful stadium... NOBODY GOES, I THINK THEY GET 500 PAID TICKETS A GAME...

we have just lost the OTTAWA RENEGADES & it looks like the CFL may be gone forever here in OTTAWA.

unreal!!!!!

I have been told this at every single Penn State home game I have ever attended. Very similar situation, old fans just want to enjoy the game without any emotion.

Frustrating!

Atlanta is the worst major sports town in North America. They will support virtually nobody, even when winning.

I can't believe this to be true. My bro went for the first game against BUF, I'll have to ask him.

It's true as well of almost any southern city. Look at all the teams that get no support or have had to move.

Atlanta - Flames had to move, Thrashers get little love, Braves have a hard time selling out a playoff game, Falcons popular now but only for Vick and they are starting to turn on him, and Hawks games you can't give away tickets to.

Miami - Dolphins have the only NFL team in my knowledge that didn't sell out a playoff game, Marlins get little support although they have two titles, Heat are now popular just cuz of Shaq, and Panthers have no support

Orlando - Magic get little love and fanfare.

Jacksonville - Small market true, but they are covering 11,000 seats a year just so their games don't get blacked out

Charlotte - Hornets moved, Bobcats already have low attendance figures

New Orleans - Jazz moved, no love for Saints or Hornets even before Katrina.

St. Pete - The Devil Rays are a joke and that stadium is always 50% empty.

To my knowledge, the only three teams that get real support are the Carolina Panthers, Bucs, and Lightning. Tampa is the only city in the South that supports professional teams well.

That is exactly how Calgary Flames were at one point ... lower bowl was much more corporate and didn't like guys yelling/screaming ... then the run to the cup came and everything has changed ... now its a party atmosphere :)

Maybe they just need to get out of the first round ;)

Savant,
Time to take that raft across the lake and become a Sabre fan!!!!

90 minutes to sellout the games. It's been a freakin zoo by the arena all afternoon.

I think Ottawa wins game #3, but don't tell WNY -- Sabre fever is running wild.

Ottawa is a government town who gets comped tickets left and right. So few of those people in the stands are actually from ottawa so that is why its a dead crowd. Kinda like washington in everything aside from football.

All these cities building arenas and stadiums with no tenants. Unbelievable how little discipline so many cities have. KC now is desperate to get the Pens or any team because they built an 18,500 seat arena with only maybe 25 events a year if they don't get a team. Then you have Las Vegas where there is tons of money sloshing around and no one public or private will even front part of the cost so we are stuck having the All-Star game with a 20 year old stadium and just now some people are saying "maybe, just maybe we need a new arena".
