Detroit –1 +1.13 over BALTIMORE (Pinnacle)<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
Lefty/lefty match-up here will see former Ranger Kenny Rogers up against Eric Bedard of the Orioles. Their won/loss records are similar but that’s where the similarities end. Bedard has allowed 50 hits in 39 innings while The Gambler has allowed just 39 hits and three jacks in 46 innings. Bedard has an ERA about a full run worse than Rogers but frankly, Bedard has been extremely fortunate, escaping jam after jam after jam. Not that we need anything to more to tip the scales here but it’s worth noting that the Tigers are 21-13 while the Orioles are 15-21 however, the biggest discrepancy is how these two enemies fair against southpaws. Thus far, the Tigers are 5-1 and the Orioles are a 2-9. That works for us. Play: Detroit –1 +1.13 (Risking 1.5 units).

Boston +1.21 over NY YANKEES (Pinnacle)
Shawn Chacon is 4-1 with a 3.94 ERA and how this guy does it in beyond us. There is nothing special about Chacon, he doesn’t throw hard, he doesn’t change speeds well, he doesn’t get ahead of the hitters and yet he somehow manages to get out of innings. That could all change here as the Red Sox have owned this guy. In fact, Chacon is 0-1 with a 12.71 ERA in four appearances, including one start, against the Red Sox. In addition, the Red Sox have won four of five and prior to last night’s 7-3 loss, outscored the Yanks 21-6 in two previous wins. Wakefield is a classic knuckleballer but this isn’t about him. This is about playing a strong offense against a guy that hasn’t convinced us of anything good. Play: Boston +1.21 (Risking 1.5 units).

Chacon has struggled against Boston in his career, yes. But he hasn't given up more than one earned run in a game in his last 3 starts and has been solid out of the bullpen this year as well.

Chacon wins the same way Maddux wins--pitch location. And Wakefield is certainly no better than he is. And the Yankees have a better offense. And the Yankees are home, where Shawn pitches a lot better. It seems like a fair line. It seems like all you do is look for plus money and then look at totally square stats and make a snappy, biased write-up.

I don't see why you still bother "handicapping" these games. I looked at your website and you are 282-390 for -44.81 units since 2004? And 39-57, -17.94 so far this year? I guess that's why you don't post a record. I think you need to change the way you handicap these games.

...and with the great Yankee lineup (minus Sheffield), and the great Yankee mystique, and the great Chacon, why are they only -130?

Must not have followed Sherwoods hockey picks? Pretty impressive.

How has Wakefield fared against the Yankees in the last 5 or so?

Those aren't bad numbers at all. 23 runs in 5 games equals 4.6 runs per game, which is admirable against a team that averages 6.2 rpg. The only game he got more than 4 runs support, the Red Sox won easily.
Good luck sherwood.

I think he doesn't post a record here because he doesn't post his picks here everyday, but he posts it all on his site.

Brian has actually changed his style a bit with some -1 plays, which are in effect plays on the ML and -1.5 RL combined, so he is taking more favs, than in the past.

Oh yeah, Jacobim, you comparing Maddux to Chacon really tells us what you know about baseball. That's like comparing Rosie O'Donnoll to Charlize Theiron.

Chacon was his normal self tonight, falling behind every batter 2-0, 3-1 and he was again lucky he didn't get pounded for 8 runs.

Thanks Doug.

I like how you get on your high horse because you won a game. Remember, you're still down 17 units on the season. What I said about Shawn is completely true. And you won this game DESPITE your "analysis." You said the Bosox would win because Shawn is no good. Shawn gave up ONE earned run while Tim gave up three. You can keep saying Shawn not giving up runs is luck. I bet if he did it for 100 years you would always say it's luck.

Keep posting your square write-ups with no record. Maybe your "luck" will change too and you can actually have a season where you don't finish in the red.

Hey Rook, why not stay the hell out of sherwoods threads? Your posts reek of jealousy or of some shit like that. If you have such a problem with a person who has a winning mentality on sports gambling, just STAY OUT OF HIS THREADS. It's disrespectful people like you that really know how to get under another persons skin. Its so easy to be a TOUGH GUY when its ANONYMOUS, huh?

Sherwood clearly had the right side on the BoSox game, get the hell over it. There is nothing wrong with a poster coming back into THEIR thread and throwing it back in the face of someone else who came in their thread to disrepect them.

I'm not being a tough guy, donkey. I just wanted to expose this guy who acts like a total sharp and arrogant pro handicapper as the square that he is. My post exposing him is much more beneficial than his terrible pseudo-analysis.

And he was completely wrong on the Bosox game. Read his "analysis." His whole reasoning is that Shawn would get lit up. Shawn gave up ONE run and left with the lead. He lucked into a win despite his analysis. I don't see how he can take props or how any donkey like you can give him props for that. I'm done with this thread and I'm done with sherwood's specious capping. I just wanted to make sure everyone on the forum knew about how worthless his posts are.
