He was all ready to sign with the Yanks until they told him he'd have to play a little outfield now & then.

it would be worth it for the red sox to match/exceed yankees offer to get him in Boston and;

1) get lenny dinardo out of the rotation. replace with Clemens.
2) Keep him from New York

clemens is tied for 1st in all time wins by a red sox pitcher. he could get that record. also he is very close with former teammate Al Nipper, red sox pitching coach

I dont know if he goes to Boston, but it is very possible.

Mr. Smith,
I disagree with your thoughts on this matter.

The Sox do not need Clemens. They have 4 solid starters for the playoffs, and Pappelbon should be in the rotation if they really feel they need a 5th starter. The Money could be better spent elsewhere..notably a stick off the bench to make sure that Alex Gonz and Willie Harris never get an AB in the late innings of a ballgame.

Clemens is in Houston, mark that down.

red sox not little sisters of the poor in spending on payroll, they can add clemens and make a deal for a SS. if he is willing to play in Boston, they will pony up the cash. especially if they believe he is seriously considereing yankees as an alternative. if he wants to play in houston, red sox wont care. they dont want him in NY to help Yankees sagging fortunes.

those OF injuries are going to hurt them.

willie harris is a short term replacement for coco crisp. once coco is back, willy mo pena who has been starting a lot in center is back to the bench, will platoon a bit with nixon as nixon cant hit lefties. their is their stick off the bench.

Clemens would be a big upgrade over Clement. As of this time, I am officially starting to really hope they can get Clemens. He can help them.

if red sox make playoffs, I would feel pretty good about this rotation;

Beckett
Schilling
Clemens
Wakefield

Papelbon closer.

that is nasty.

agree probable wishful thining, he figures to stay close to home with Astrob. but I wont lay -250 oin that. any value here has to be on red sox at 6-1. he has no real reason to go to yankees.

I don't know what he will be doing this year, but I do know he can't bring it anymore.

"I don't know what he will be doing this year, but I do know he can't bring it anymore."

and how do you know this? basis? Between his staggering stats last season & how well he pitched in the WBC...not sure how you would come to that conclusion.
