82-83 NBA season. Celtics beat the Lakers in game 7 when the AC mysteriously stopped working at the garden, it was about 100 degrees in there with about 80% humidity & Kareem had a migrain. It was my senior year in HS.
I miss the old NBA!

2004 of course watching my beloved Red Sox do that to the Yankees. If I live to be 1000 nothing will be as sweet as that from a sports point of view.

Flyers 1987...Lost to Gretzkey and the Oilers powerhouse team in game 7....what a friggin run by the Flyers and Hextall....playoffs included the pregame brawl with the Habs....Flyers/Oilers that year was the greatest Cup finals in the history of the sport....or at least since I have been watching hockey for the past 25+ years.

All imo, of course.

Great idea for a thread Jdog

'75 Red Sox--my first season as a baseball fan. My dad and my buddy's dad took turns taking us to games at Fenway. No kidding, attended over 30 games that year.

'86 Red Sox--followed every single game from the first day of spring training while in college in the sports vacuum of Charleston, SC (nearly impossible in the days before Al Gore invented the internet).

'86 Giants--long time coming for a team that ruined nearly every football season Sunday dinner of my childhood.

'88 Notre Dame--had just met my future wife who had gone to high school with--and later that season introduced me to--QB Tony Rice. Two of the greatest college football games of the 80's were played by ND (Miami and USC)

Was that the year (Stanley Cup Final), the one game had to be postponed because the lights went out? It may have been Boston.

Maxxx, I would like to add the 1983 Orioles to my list, I saw game 3 at Philadelphia, was also at Games 1 & 2...

1994 Nebraska Cornhuskers win the National Championship after more than 20 years.

1995 Nebraska Cornhuskers make Steve Spurrier cry at the Fiesta Bowl and finish the season as the best college football team in history.

2001 Pats SB, only sporting event to bring tears to my eyes. They never win a games like that. Before that game I always thought the Pats were just the Red Sox in shoulder pads...but they found a way to win.

86 Mets. Not just for game 6 in the World Series, but the Mets/Reds game during the regular season. That was by far the most entertaining game I've ever seen.

It had Eric Davis sliding hard into third and Ray Knight losing it and start pounding on him. Also Davey Johnson lost all his position players in the game and had to put Jesse Orosco in right. For the last two innings of the game, the Mets would switch between Roger Mcdowell and Orosco depending who was at bat. A lefty or a righty.

Can honestly say this season with the Clippers...nothing even comes close. I think I have beat it to death on this board so I won't go into detail again.

2000 cfb season when the Oklahoma Sooners marched straight to the Champonship Game as a 10.5 doggie to FSU and won straight up. They covered 10 out of 11 that year, and a HUGE M/L doggie in the bowl game.

This was not the best year, but its the most recent one, many others, good and bad!
