Texas +1.31 over NY YANKEES (Pinnacle)

The first thing to note here is that the Rangers have won six in a row on the road and that includes last night’s 4-2 win against Yanks ace, Mike Mussina. Texas will take a huge step down in class tonight in terms of whom they’re facing on the hill. Shawn Chacon gave up just one run against the Red Sox in is last start, however, he was pulled after 4.2 innings because he was flirting with disaster all night long. In fact, the Red Sox had left 13 men on base in the 4.2 innings that Chacon pitched. Chacon is constantly behind in the count and his record and ERA is one of the more misleading in the majors. He’s on the verge of getting his ass kicked and we couldn’t have handpicked a better team to take care of it, as the Rangers are an offensive juggernaut. Rookie John Koronka seeks his fifth straight victory for Texas. Since losing his first start to Detroit on April 7, Koronka is 4-0 with a 3.20 ERA in his last six outings and has only allowed four bombs in over 44 frames. The opposition has hit just .246 off Koronka and when you consider that he pitches half his games at that hitters haven in Texas his numbers are even more impressive. Yanks are overpriced again, just like they are almost every day. Play: Texas +1.31 (Risking 1.5 units). <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Seattle –1.05 over OAKLAND (SIA)

Always like to go against a team coming back from a trip to the coast, especially after a day off like the A’s had yesterday. Oakland played six games, three in Toronto and three in New York and lost two of three to both. They return home laboring big time and they also return with Eric Chavez in the infirmary along with Frank Thomas and Milton Bradley. Chavez has only played once over Oakland's last six games due to a bacterial infection, however, he returned to the lineup Saturday, but didn't play Sunday after going 0-for-5 with three strikeouts in Saturday’s loss. These A’s can’t afford to be without anyone and things don’t figure to get easier against Felix Hernandez. Hernandez threw a five hitter in eight innings in his last start against the Devil Rays and prior to that he was effective against the White Sox, Baltimore, Detroit and Texas. Earlier in the year he dazzled the A’s, allowing just two hits in five frames. Fernandez has 43 strikeouts in 39 innings of work and likely won’t need much run support here. However, the chances of the Mariners providing some offense are pretty good. Joe Blanton has a 7.94 ERA at home and Oakland is one of the best pitcher parks in the majors. His overall ERA is 6.38 and he’s had just two quality starts this season in seven attempts. Frankly, there’s very little to like about the A’s in this one. Play: Seattle –1.05 (Risking 1.6 units to win 1.5).

HOUSTON –1 –1.04 over San Francisco (Pinnacle)

Jamey Wright has a career record of 64-91 in 10 major league seasons. In other words, he’s averaging about six wins a year and this year he’s already won three. You do the math. He’s lost three of his last four and his only win over that stretch came against the inept Cubbies. In his career against the Astros, Wright is 0-12 with a 7. 35 ERA and although we’re not big on past results, this one can’t be ignored. Wandy Rodriguez is 3-0 at Orange Juice Park and has only surrendered two jacks in 25 innings at home. Overall, Rodriguez is 5-1 with a 3.02 ERA and no matter how you break it down is numbers are impressive and they keep getting better. Barry Bonds has become a liability and a distraction to the whole team and we just can’t see this one going any other way. Play: Houston –1 –1.04 (Risking 1.58 units ton win 1.5).

Sorry, I was wrong about Chacon, he pitched better than any other time I've seen him this year. Eight runs in 1.1 innings of work is a good night for Chacon because in 30 years of watching baseball thus guy is the worst pitcher I've ever seen, bar none.
