The Red Sox try to defeat the Orioles for the ninth time in as many meetings this season and 14th straight overall when the teams conclude their three-game series Wednesday.
Boston, which leads the major leagues in fewest errors (12), has not committed a miscue in six games and had just one in its last 12 contests. The Red Sox have won eight of 10 overall and are 9-3 in May.
Knuckleball specialist Tim Wakefield (3-4, 4.03 ERA) has won two in a row since personal catcher Doug Mirabelli returned to the team. He allowed three runs and six hits in six innings of Thursday's win over the New York Yankees.
The Orioles counter with Erik Bedard (4-2, 4.63), who opened with four straight victories but is winless since April 18. He did not get a decision Friday against Kansas City after yielding three runs and six hits in five frames.
